Este paisaje permite a los viajeros conectar con distintos tonos de verde y ocre, y ofrece la oportunidad de observar las estrellas bajo uno de los cielos más limpios del mundo, reconocido con la Certificación Starlight. Las comunidades locales valoran esta riqueza y han establecido alrededor de 50 Reservas Naturales de la Sociedad Civil, dedicadas a la conservación y al amor por la tierra. Local communities value this wealth and have established around 50 Civil Society Nature Reserves, dedicated to conservation and love for the land. Visitors can walk along trails or participate in birdwatching, observing birds such as the pintail Muscisaxicola maculirostris, a species endemic to the desert, or the stingray Coeligena prunellei, endemic to the western slope of the Eastern Cordillera of Colombia.
