Enjoy your stay in lovely Lauraville! This one bedroom, 2nd floor apartment comes with a private entrance, queen bed, office, full bath & kitchenette, ceiling fans, AC, ample street parking, front porch, wifi, and TV with Firestick. The house is a brick, two unit duplex located on a quiet & friendly side street, in walking distance to a variety of neighborhood attractions. It’s an ideal place for a visiting student, faculty member, nurse, or intern as it’s close to many colleges & hospitals! The kitchenette is fully equipped with refrigerator, sink, and apartment size oven/stove. Coffee pot, electric tea kettle, microwave, silverware/utensils, dishes, glasses, and a limited assortment of pots/pans are available for your use. The office is positioned on the rear of the house and overlooks the backyard. It has a desk and a hutch that contains a collection of Baltimore relics and literature. I like to call this the Baltimore room. It has a ceiling fan. The bedroom has a queen size bed with a nine inch foam mattress and one inch ComforPedic memory foam topper. The bedroom faces the rear of the house. Through the window you can see landscaped properties and a snapshot view of neighborhood roof tops. There are darkening curtains, a ceiling fan, and a sound machine to help provide a deep, restful, cool, uninterrupted sleep! The living room is positioned on the front of the house and receives morning sun. There is a 43” TV with a Firestick and Netflix plus 20+ local antenna stations. There is a ceiling fan. For guests staying longer than 30 days, shared laundry is available in the basement of the house. Due to the size and age of the washing machine and dryer, only clothing, sheets, and towels can be done on site. Large items such as blankets, rugs, and comforters must be done at the local laundromat. Guests may choose one convenient weeknight per week for laundry access. Guests will stay in the upstairs unit. This is a private space with private entrance. I live downstairs so you'll probably see me come and go. I have a separate entrance off of the side of the house. I work nearby (M-F) and am usually home on weeknights. On weekends I'm out and about in the neighborhood, but can be reached quickly. Please note that Lauraville is in northeast Baltimore and is not near downtown! If you are looking to stay downtown, please search for Canton, Fells Point, Federal Hill, Butchers Hill, or the Inner Harbor! The house is located in Moravia-Walther, a two block neighborhood in the up-and-coming Greater Lauraville community! It's a friendly, diverse community full of active and engaged families and individuals. The neighborhood prides itself with gardens and artistic spaces. Take a nice walk in the spring to see some of the lovely landscaping! The house is one block from Zeke's coffee and just around the corner from Walther Gardens, a neighborhood gathering spot, garden center, nursery, antique shop and snowball stand! Looking for good crab cakes? Koko's is just down the street. Maggie's Farm is a delightful place if you enjoy farm-to-table fare. Red Canoe, our neighborhood children's book shop and cafe, is just across the street from the Tuesday Market on Harford Road. Looking to stay in? There's a Safeway just down the street or a Giant just up Harford Rd. Like the outdoors? Clifton Golf Course, Herring Run Park, and Lake Montebello are about a 20 minute walk from here. Lake Montebello has a track and a disc golf course! Just a mile and a half north is downtown Hamilton where you can enjoy a cuppa tea at Emma's Tea House, or "Baltimore Magazine's" best brunch at Silver Queen Cafe. Looking for authentic Baltimore treats? Try Mastellone's Italian Wine and Deli, Wockenfuss Chocolate, or two of Baltimore's famed bakeries Fenwick or Woodlea, all located nearby . Lauraville is also a quick drive (or roughly $15-$20 Uber/Lyft) from some of Baltimore's other hot spots including the Inner Harbor, Fells Point, Federal Hill, Charles Village, Hampden, and much more! The neighborhood is equally close to Johns Hopkins University, Morgan State University, University of Maryland at Baltimore, Notre Dame of Maryland University and Loyola University. Nearby medical facilities include Johns Hopkins Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, University of Maryland Medical Center, Union Memorial Hospital, Franklin Square, and Greater Baltimore Medical Center. The Baltimore Convention Center is also easily accessible by Uber/Lyft. Enjoy breweries? Baltimore is home to many including Union Craft, Waverly, Peabody Heights, Ministry, Oliver, Diamondback, Nepenthe, Checkerspot, Mobtown, Suspended, and Monument. Can't make it to the brewery? You can try over a dozen rotating craft beers just up the road at Racers' Cafe! Interested in Ravens or Orioles games? Both Camden Yards or M&T Bank Stadium are a quick 20 minute drive into the city. The house is one block from Harford Road. The MTA bus has several stops along this main road. Uber and Lyft are always running in the neighborhood. Street parking is available if you're bringing a car. It’s hit or miss if you can park right out front, but there is always a spot on the road. If you're a cyclist, Walther Ave. has designated bike lanes that connect to nearby neighborhoods. A car is the most ideal form of transportation in northeast Baltimore though. Metro and Light Rail are not accessible from this location. Have more questions about the location? Please reach out and ask! Please don’t rate the location low just because you wanted to be downtown. Book downtown instead! But if you’re looking for safe, quiet, family friendly, and accessible to a ton of hospitals, colleges, or highways, come check out Northeast. This is where young families move when they’re tired of the night life chaos! One friendly labrador retriever dog lives downstairs and is always contained in the downstairs unit or fenced in back yard. His name is Finch. He’s usually quiet although he gets rather excited on trash/recycling days or when vehicles go through the back alley! If staying in the summer months, it does run warmer upstairs. There is central air which can be supplemented by ceiling fans and a portable fan. There is also a window AC unit in the bedroom. Feel free to bring along additional fans if you prefer cold! Please take note of the guest rule... Due to insurance and liability purposes, only those individuals included on the reservation are permitted on the premises. On occasion, an exception will be made for an occasional out-of-town visitor, however visitors cannot be on the premises without being accompanied by the approved guest. These exceptions must be discussed in advance.
