Over the years, land was sold off to build subdivisions surrounding the property. The remaining seven acres were renamed White Lion Manor in 2020. The mansion boasts a large open floor plan with a first floor en suite and four bathrooms while the second floor space has an additional eight bedrooms and six full bathrooms. The lower level has a theatre room, wine cellar, sauna, massage chair, light exercise equipment as well as an on site laundry room. Access to the salt water pool and jacuzzi are through the cabana sun room or the foyer. There's 5 decibel monitors monitoring noise levels as well located in the formal, casual living rooms, kitchen, theatre, sauna room. Additionally, There are no pets allowed during your stay. The White Lion Manor is a perfect balance of tasteful, modern updates with grand colonial craftsmanship. maintains many of the nautical themed architectural features from its original owner to this day-porthole windows, a compass etched into the stone of the front porch, and the den which was originally called the "ship room" designed to look like the inside of a ship. To this day that room retains the original wood floor made from the same wood from which the ships were built. While this home has a lot of old world charm, we have high speed internet throughout the house (able to handle multiple Zoom calls). The kitchen is fully equipped with all the necessities, (including double ovens, two dish washers, two refrigerators, a microwave, pots and pans, hot water tap, two wine chillers with a complimentary bottle of wine, bottled water, snacks, fresh baked cookies, fruit and fresh flowers are provided for each stay. The butlers pantry adds even more charm and convenience to this wonderful home and is a chefs sanctuary. A fully stocked coffee/tea bar with a Nespresso maker, drip coffee pot and pastries makes for a great way to start your day. We offer a designated workspace area with wifi at 327 Mbps and have central AC and heat throughout the home. Additionally all but two of the guest rooms have en suite bathrooms. The vibe here at White Lion is comfortable elegance and serenity. With its inviting grounds, expansive patio and pool deck space, the two sunrooms (one off the back of the house that serves as a pool cabana and one off the eat-in kitchen that serves as a breakfast room), it invites you to relax almost upon arrival. In the warmer months the patio is perfect for al fresco dining, picnicking, cookouts or relaxing around the fire pit. Seasonally, there is an outdoor kitchen with a bbq grill, counter space, and a refrigerator. The saltwater pool is open from May through late September and the oversized jacuzzi is available for use year round. The home is boasting 9 fire places and has two living room areas (a large formal living room and a more informal den). Both have gas fireplaces and the latter has a TV for relaxing time together as wells as boardgames for family fun. Enjoy popcorn and a movie in the theater room with 9 reclining seats and an 85 inch HD TV this room won't disappoint. We now have a four person Far Infrared Sauna for you to use during your stay with us. This room also includes a Brookstone Theramedic Flex massage chair for you to enjoy. Let us help you relax and unwind! There is ample parking off to the side of the circular driveway on the car pad or additional parking around the side of the house near the garages as well as an EV charger for use during your stay. Guests have full access to the house and grounds with a laundry room on-site. The basement garage bays may be accessed by the house manager from time to time during your stay. In the event that you may have any concerns or needs during your stay, the host lives less then 2 minutes away. Other things to note Middletown being featured in the NY Times for its "friendly" and "hip" vibe and awarded "Most Romantic Main Street". This home being centrally located in Connecticut is super convenient for those guests wanting to travel during their stay! We're situated less than two hours away from major cities such as New York City, Boston and Rhode Island and just (30 min away) from Bradley International Aiport, Tweed and Avelo. Connecticut is home of the TPC Golf Tournament and is less than 15 minutes from the home. Wesleyan University (10 min away), Yale (30 min away) Trinity (25 min away), and Quinnipiac (25 min away) are also close by. Lake Beseck Beach (10) min away), Powder Ridge Ski Resort (10) min away), Mount Southington Ski Area (20 min away), Wadsworth Mansion (10 min away) is a lovely attraction. If you’re having a wedding at St.Clements Castle, The Barn At Wesleyan or at any of the other lovely venues Connecticut has to offer. The White Lion Manor is the perfect place to stay with your wedding party! Theres also plenty of theatres, vineyards and hiking trails close by (15 min away) Just 2.5 miles to downtown Middletown (home of Wesleyan University), 20 minutes to Hartford (Trinity College and Wadsworth Atheneum, 25 minutes to New Haven (Yale University, 30 minutes from the Shoreline (Long Island Sound), & less than 2 hrs. from NYC Boston and Providence. For fun winter activities there is a nearby ice skating rink. Also, Enjoy the spirit of the season with Essex Steam Train’s Polar Express ride with Santa, Mrs. Claus and the elves.
