Welcome to the NEW Hummingbird Hideaway at Cuchara Mountain. This beautiful bright & vibrant condo is a wonderful getaway for your next Colorado adventure. Comfortable for up to 4 people with a queen bed, a pull-out couch & futon. The living room has a smart-tv & large assortment of movies, games and books. The kitchen is fully stocked with all of the essentials including cookware, coffee & teas. The area is home to hiking, biking, fishing, hunting, skiing, and so much more. Welcome to Cuchara! The space Our love affair with the Cuchara Valley began in 2024 during a camping trip with friends to see the Spanish Peaks. A pit stop in the charming town of Cuchara for a meal at the Yacht Club was all it took for us to fall head over heels for the community and the breathtaking landscape. So smitten in fact that we decided to establish a second home in the valley, a decision we've relished ever since. We carefully decorated the space creating a warm and inviting retreat; We're thrilled to open the doors of our cozy mountainside hideaway to you! We're confident you'll be as enamored with it and the surrounding area as we are. The condo is a charming, practical space adorned with captivating artwork from local artists, sourced from the neighboring towns of La Veta and Cuchara. This modernized 1 bed, 1 bath lower level unit comes with a fully equipped kitchen and can comfortably accommodate up to 4 guests. The bedroom houses a decorative queen log bed. An additional fold-out futon in the bedroom can be used as an extra bed. The living room is equipped with a chaise couch that converts to a full size sleeper. The living room has a large smart TV, wood-burning fireplace, DVD player, a large movie collection, board games, card games, and books for all ages. For those working remotely, there's a built-in workstation in the living room and robust wi-fi. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the essentials you'll need to whip up your meals, including pots, pans, microwave, toaster oven, stove top, standard oven, standard toaster, cooking and eating utensils, wine opener, Keurig, regular drip coffee maker, flour, oil, sugar, and seasonings. On the outdoor patio we have included a Coleman propane grill. We love spoiling our guests so we have included coffee grounds, K-cups, creamer, assorted teas, free snacks, oatmeal, and pancake mix & syrup. We've got you covered! Nestled on the Eastern slopes of the Culebra Range, a subset of the vast Sangre De Cristo mountain range, our location sits 1,000 feet above the valley floor, providing sweeping panoramic views of the Spanish Peaks. Surrounded by aspen groves, this area comes to life with beautiful fall foliage and can be enjoyed right from the back porch or from the top of a mountain hike. The condo is situated right next to Cuchara Mountain Park. This free park offers a lot of outdoor activities. Within steps of the condo enjoy multiple hiking trails, a disc-golf course, mini golf in the woods, and a mountain bike terrain park. The park operators are working hard to get the area classified as a dark-skies area. The lack of local city night light pollution makes for some of the best star-gazing opportunities. If successfully added to the dark-skies program, it will join the great sand dunes area and make for the largest acreage dark-skies area in the US. During the winter season enjoy snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, a sledding hill, or take the snowcat up the mountain to enjoy skiing and snowboarding. The surrounding areas is home to an even larger gathering of outdoor adventures. Hiking rated from easy to advanced spans the entire San Isabel National Forest area and Cuchara Mountain Park. Reservoirs, lakes and streams such as Blue Lake, Bear Lake, Lathrop State Park, Cucharas River, North Reservoir and Monument Reservoirs allow for some of the states best fishing and water activities. Southern Colorado is home to hunting for small and large game, birds, coyote, and bobcats. 4x4 trails can be found in the area for all the wheeling thrill seekers. Several roads both paved and dirt are adequate and enjoyable for mountain biking. Within the town of La Veta is an 18-hole golf course and driving range with beautiful mountian backdrops. So regardless of how you like to spend your outdoor adventures, the Cuchara area holds something special for everyone. The dirt road leading to the condo from the main highway is well-kept and plowed in the winter. Under normal conditions, 2WD vehicles with low clearance have no trouble reaching the condo. However, during winter conditions, we recommend a 4WD or AWD vehicle. Please note that reaching our bottom floor unit requires navigating 2 short flights of stairs, totaling around 10-12 steps. The path is lit at night by solar-powered motion sensor lights. In winter, the path may be covered in snow as the HOA only clears the roads and parking areas, so please come prepared. NOTE: During the winter months sidewalks can become heavily snow covered and can be deep. Unfortunately, since we are not on site snow removal for the sidewalks becomes an additional expense. We leave you the option, you can take on the snow yourselves by shoveling or snowshoeing through it, or you can opt to an additional charge for snow removal services. These services are typically $75-$100/hr and can be arranged by messaging us. We understand this additional charge isn't ideal but unfortunately it comes with a property that is alongside a ski mountain.
