The 200-square-meter, newly renovated and listed "Fohlenstall" is idyllically located in the middle of the Wendland, near the Elbe Valley Floodplain Biosphere Reserve. In a 10,000 square meter garden with old trees, the light-filled house offers plenty of space for family, groups of friends or a workation. The generous layout, lovingly selected antiques and modern design create a special atmosphere - a place to arrive, be together and relax. The space A special place for a special break: The listed "Alte Fohlenstall" combines the atmosphere of a 200-year-old manor house with modern comforts and plenty of space for shared experiences. In the heart of the Wendland, near the Elbe Valley Floodplain Biosphere Reserve, a former foal stable, renovated with a lot of love for detail, awaits you on a 10,000 sqm property. Old trees, expansive meadows, historic buildings and lots of peace characterize this special place. Over 200 square meters, the house can accommodate up to 12 guests – ideal for families and groups of friends who want to spend time together and still have enough space for themselves. Lovingly selected antiques meet modern design, creating a warm, unique atmosphere. Here you can eat together for a long time at the large table, read and talk by the fireplace, enjoy the sun on the terraces or simply relax in the large garden under old fruit trees. Lake Stresow, a refreshing swimming lake, is only 1.2 km away. A place to arrive, be together and relax. The space: The "Alte Fohlenstall" is exclusively at your disposal. The historic building was renovated with great care and a lot of love for detail by 2024. The heart of the house is the approximately 60-square-meter, light-flooded living and dining area with an open, modernly equipped kitchen. A large wooden dining table can accommodate all 12 guests. Two cozy sofas, a small reading nook and the wood-burning stove make the room a wonderful meeting place – for long breakfasts, evenings together or cozy hours with a good book. Five separate bedrooms, three bathrooms and a guest toilet are spread over two floors. A gallery with a writing and play table provides additional space for retreat or togetherness. Outside, you have a choice of two spacious terraces – one facing south, one facing west. A garden table and chairs for 12 people, umbrellas, lounge chairs, a hammock, a large grill and a fire pit invite you to spend as much time outdoors as possible. For cozy evenings, puzzles and board games and a small library are also available to you. The Garden: The Fohlenstall is part of a spacious, over 200-year-old former estate complex. The house is nestled in a spacious garden with old trees and fruit trees. There is plenty of space here to play, read, sunbathe, relax and spend time together. There are two soccer goals, a ping-pong table and a large trampoline for the kids. And maybe that's the best part: There's a lot of space here – without feeling like you're in a typical vacation resort. Surroundings The Wendland and the nearby Elbe river floodplains are a wonderful starting point for anyone seeking nature and tranquility. Right in the area, you can go on great bike rides, go for a walk, watch birds, swim or go horseback riding. At night, it is so dark that the constellations are clearly visible. Just five minutes away by bike is the Stresow swimming lake – a little insider tip for warm summer days. In Gartow, about 8 km away, you will find everything for everyday needs: supermarkets, a health food store, pharmacy, doctor, bike rental, inn, art gallery and riding facilities. Your own horses can also be accommodated by arrangement. The Wendland itself is one of the most exciting cultural regions in Germany. In addition to the special landscape, you will find small museum villages, cultural sites, organic farms, cafes, and many places that are wonderful to discover on your own. Guest Access The "Alte Fohlenstall" is exclusively available to you during your stay. Free parking, available exclusively to our guests, is located directly on the property. Other things to take into account Well-behaved dogs are welcome by prior personal arrangement. So that we can prepare for your four-legged friends, we would appreciate a quick message in advance about the dog breed and whether your four-legged friend sheds. In consideration of the following guests, we also ask that you ensure that beds and sofas remain pet-free zones. We charge an extra cleaning fee for the additional cleaning.
