Artisan furnishings, fluffy white towels, Welsh tapestry print, bags of boards games & 21C creature comforts. All with original Welsh Art works on lime wash. Down the lane for woods, waterfalls & otters. A short hop further to Coastal Path; Mwnt & Poppit beaches or Cardigans indi shops & restaurants. The space No 1 Church Row has: * Bedrooms x 2 * En-Suite Wet Room with walk in shower & toilet * Ground Floor Walk in Shower & toilet * New fully equipped kitchen with induction hob. * Dining table seats 4 * Velvet sofas x 2 * TV x 2 * Lounge garden chairs x 8 * Private parking space * Stunning views * Bats x quite a few * Crows x more still * Slow worms - have only ever seen 1 No 1 Church Row is around 300 years old and is the end cottage in a row of 4. The cottages were probably built as part of a traditional Welsh Long House to service the little Welsh church; now a picturesque ruin to the front of Church Row. Turn up an unmarked lane just before Llechryd stone bridge and pull up on your private driveway in front of No 1 Church Row. The row of cottages have a gated path from the lane and No 1 & 2 share a (gated) path from our drive. No 1 Church Row has a ground and 1st floor; foot thick walls and (uncharacteristically for this part of the world) high, beamed ceilings. The cottage has 2 bedrooms sleeping 4 people. For babies; tots or small children I can usually set up a travel bassinet / cot / playpen in the River View bedroom. It’s lease contact to check before booking. £10 fee I also can provide a High Chair; children’s cutlery and toilet seat booster. (£5) For additional adult guests I can set up a canvas camp bed in the sitting room and / or master bedroom. (£15 fee) COTTAGE GARDEN - Enter through the fragrant cottage garden with BBQ / Fire pit; culinary herbs and 8 seater wicker sofas to recline upon. With its South facing panoramic daytime views of Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire and evening bat visits this is the perfect place to eat, drink and be lazy. The garden has atmospheric lighting till midnight and if you want to stay to star gaze you can wrap up with blanket’s which you will find in the enamel tin the scullery. FURRY FRIENDS - please note whilst the cottage garden is enclosed and fine for my 2 x Cockapoo’s it may not be suitable for larger; more athletic or pooches hell bent on escape! Please also note - we have no dog flap and only accept fully house trained pets. I walk our dogs before bed and in the day leave the door to the garden open - it’s an ‘open door’ kinda place. I’ll leave a dog blanket on the sofa and you”l find doggy water and food bowls in the enamel tin in scullery. IMPORTANT- our idyllic rural hamlet is perfect for most pets. However if your dog is reactive; aggressive or barks constantly No 1 Church Row is not the right place for you. If your dog is left to bark constantly or is intent on attacking people or animals you will be asked to leave. GROUND FLOOR SITTING ROOM - Two fat, cushion strewn, velvet sofas; a leather club chair and a Victorian pouffe. Ample room for 6-7 to loll. Wood burning stove; & original Welsh art work. Leads into….. KITCHEN - Everything you need to make a Bang Tidy dinner in a new kitchen with induction hob; cast iron frying pan; selection of chopping boards; casserole dishes; cake tin; roasting tray; heavy base saucepan selection and some excellent knifes - just don’t put them in the dishwasher! 😅 Also toasted sandwich maker for the days when melting cheese is the only thing you need. DINING - with craftsman built aged wood table & bench. Sits 4. If you’re happy to squidgy up we can leave a stool at each end of the table so it sits 6. Bigger groups can dine al fresco. Large trays and serving boards provided. High Chair and baby bowls and cutlery upon request. Leads into….. SCULLERY - plenty of storage + microwave. Doggy bowls and blankets live in the enamel box. BATHROOM 1: WALK IN SHOWER & Loo Great smelling toiletries. Fluffy white towels. Bathrobes. Electric raiser / Toothbrush power point. Small Double artisan bed. ‘Secret’ draw in bed houses a selection of board games for all ages. Bathrobes & fluffy white towels. Guest access The cottage sits half way up a steep hill. There are 3 steps on to the cottage path from the drive which leads through an enclosed front patio garden. There are 2 steps from lane entrance to Church Row. FURRY FRIENDS - No 1 Church Row cottage garden is enclosed on 3 sides with the 4th side being a high (3 - 5 foot) angled drop to the drive with some shrubs & barriers at the lower end. Neither of my Cockapoos have ever tried to jump down to the drive (and thus to freedom) as it would be a very difficult manoeuvre. And that’s despite one of my dogs having mountain goat style climbing capabilities and regularly pulling off Houdini-esque escapes! However all dogs are different so please note that No 1 Church Row garden may not be suitable for larger; more athletic or fiendishly escape oriented hounds. The sitting room; kitchen and bathroom are on the ground floor. Bedrooms are on the 1st floor up one small flight of stairs with a small landing area and then another 3 steps to the landing with bedroom entrances. The cottage has been designed to celebrate its splendid rural location and historic character - with discrete 21st century conveniences such as thermostatic heating; dishwasher; 43’ flat screen tv; walk in showers and great WiFi. Traditional Welsh wool textiles sit alongside contemporary Welsh artists works. Master craftsmen have created fittings from locally sourced slate and aged wood. Lime wash’s and folk art decorate the foot thick stone walls. Plants and vintage pieces are scattered throughout. The sensual bedrooms have deep, luxurious artisan headboards and Egyptian cotton sheets adorned with hand made cushions from traditional Welsh Tapestry Print. The garden affords panoramic views of The Teifi; Ceredigion and beyond to Pembroke. Help yourself to organic Parsley; Thyme, Rosemary and Sage whilst listening to murmurings from the nearby Rookery. Stay late for the Bats and if you’re lucky you’ll also see Fox’s and catch the slithering shimmer of our resident Slowworms. At the end of the garden lays a picturesquely ruined church and deserted Cymraeg graveyard with crooked grave stones and a ‘Mr Titmus’ street lamp. NOTE - You will be in mythic West Wales navigating your way to a cottage without street signs! No 1 Church Row is the corner cottage in a row of 4. Church Row is part of a tiny rural hamlet of homes straddling an unmarked lane with daisies, daffodils and fruit trees. The lane leads to the Llechryd Bridge over the river Teifi. The Teifi is the border between Ceredigion & Pembrokeshire. Down the lane to the left is 16C Llechryd Bridge - famed meeting place for The Rebecca Uprising in 1844. Up the lane to bluebell woods. Walks from the doorstep include riverside trails; ancient ‘rain forest’ woods; nature reserves and panoramic hills. The area has characterful pubs; nature reserves; castles; Welsh artisan delicatessens and ancient waterfalls described in the myths of The Mabinogion and home to Welsh Otters. Cardigan - 10 min drive / regular bus’s / £10 taxi A bustling “foodie heaven” of a town with markets; Indi shops; galleries; supermarkets; cinema; theatre, excellent restaurants & cafes and a host of traditional pubs & hipster bars.
