The West Wing at Mount Ephraim

Description

Our West Wing offers five beautiful double ensuite bedrooms with stunning views over our Edwardian gardens. Available as rooms only during the summer, or with the use of our Victorian tea room kitchen /dining room during the winter months, the Wing is perfect for groups of friends or family looking to unwind in true country house style. Ideally located in the Kent countryside, surrounded by farmland, it's within walking distance of two country pubs and just ten minutes drive from the coast. The space The West Wing at Mount Ephraim is a self-contained wing within the main manor house, and has stunning views over the ten acres of gardens. With dedicated parking spaces for Wing guests, it has its own entrance at the back of the house. The entrance lobby leads onto the main staircase, where on the first floor there are five double ensuite individually decorated rooms. Each room is lockable and features a TV and tea and coffee making facilities. The gardens at Mount Ephraim are open to the public between April and September, when the downstairs space in the Wing is used as a tea room for the garden visitors, and is not accessible to our West Wing guests. Outside of the garden season between October and March, this downstairs space is included within the hire of the West Wing, with use of the old Victorian kitchen and dining room, a pop-up sitting room with screen and projector for cosy film nights in, and two toilets. The kitchen has a commercial feel to it and has 2 large ovens, 6 induction hobs, a microwave, and large sink for washing up. It is well equipped with crockery, cutlery, glasses and cooking essentials. The dining room is ideal for breakfast and evening meals and features a decorative old range oven which was once used to cook all the meals for the Dawes family, when the house was fully staffed in the early 1900s. The West Wing was previously the staff quarters and the rooms have been named accordingly with Butler, Maid, Cook, Gamekeeper and Sir Edwyn after the family member who built the house in 1878. The West Wing rooms were previously run as a B&B with individually rentable rooms, but the owners are now renting the whole wing out as a whole, offering rooms only between April and September or self catering between October and March, for groups of friends or family looking for a memorable group stay in these historic surroundings. Guest access Guests have full access to the ten acres of gardens at Mount Ephraim at any point during their stay, and this is a real highlight of any stay. West Wing guests have full access to the downstairs space in the Wing between October to March with access to the kitchen, dining room, sitting room and WC. During the summer months, West Wing guests will not have access to this downstairs space and will be renting out the rooms on a room only basis. The owners have lots of recommendations for places to eat locally and each room does have its own tea and coffee making facilities for that early morning or late night cuppa. Guests are also welcome to visit the Tea Room during the summer months when it is open on Wednesdays to Sundays and Bank Holidays between 11am and 3.30pm serving cream teas, afternoon teas, cakes and light lunches. The manor house is essentially split into three distinct areas with the West Wing, the main end of the house for administrative purposes and hosting weddings and private events, and the Garden Wing holiday let in another part of the house. West Wing guests will not have access to the main end of the house or the Garden Wing during their stay, but there will never be a wedding or large private event taking place when the West Wing is rented out, so there's no need to worry about lots of noise! Other things to note The gardens at Mount Ephraim are open to the public between April and September on Wednesdays to Sundays and Bank Holidays between 11am and 4pm. There are other accommodation options for hire at Mount Ephraim including the Garden Wing in the main house, and glamping pods on the edge of the gardens. The West Wing Rooms are also available to rent out individually via a separate listing on Airbnb. There are also a couple of residential and small business lets on site.
