The space Explore by Foot, Road & Water Public footpaths lead directly from our lane, making it effortless to start your Wye Valley walks or cycling adventures right from the doorstep. River Wye Access: A peaceful 20-minute walk from the annexe takes you down to a local launch spot on the River Wye—perfect for wild swimming, launching your paddle board, or dropping in a canoe! Hay-on-Wye: The world-famous "Town of Books" is a quick 12-minute drive away. Hereford City: Home to the magnificent Cathedral and historic Mappa Mundi, just a 25-minute drive. Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog): Head into the National Park for serious hiking and outdoor adventure, easily accessible in under 30 minutes. Home-from-home: We’ve set up the annexe with everything you need for a comfortable, cosy and stress-free stay. Kitchen & dining: A well-equipped kitchen (oven, hob, fridge, sink) for easy self-catering. With a dedicated dining area for four inside, and also outside in the courtyard. Sleeping: A spacious bedroom with a lovely double bed. A very comfy sofa (positioned in the lounge) for two children or one adult, and a chair bed in the bedroom. Lounge: We've added some blankets, games and puzzles. Even some soft lighting to cosy up and read. Take a book from our selection of 'help yourself books'. Parking & access: We offer the convenience of private drive parking (enough for more than one car! Just let us know before your arrival so we can make space) and your own separate entrance. For those arriving in electric vehicles, we have an EV charger on-site—please let us know if you'd like to use this during your stay. You’re just a 5-minute walk from the heart of Winforton village; don't forget to visit the fantastic local farm vending machine for fresh milk, eggs, and coffee—it's a real treat and a proper Herefordshire experience! A few notes: Digital balance: We don't have a TV here, but we find most guests prefer the quiet! Maybe time to unwind and recharge. Fast Wi-Fi: If you do need to stream, we provide super fast Wi-Fi so you can easily use your own laptops or tablets in the comfortable lounge area. Family friendly: Bringing the kids? We happily accommodate two children (or one adult) on our large, very comfortable sofa. And a chair bed in the bedroom for one more! Please let us know what we need to set up for your arrival. Goosepool Annexe is an ideal spot for couples, solo travellers, and small families seeking peace, nature, and easy access to the stunning Black Mountains and Wye Valley. We can't wait to host you! Guest access Privacy: Fully detached annexe with its own entrance and a fenced courtyard. On-site context: Our own cars are parked on the driveway, and we use a shepherd's hut on-site as our office. Interaction: We value your privacy and leave you to enjoy your stay without disturbance! Other things to note A Few Helpful Notes Getting Around & Car Travel: Winforton is a peaceful, traditional village without public transport, so a car is essential for getting here and exploring the surrounding area smoothly. Local Pub Hours: We have a local pub within walking distance, but like many rural spots, its opening days and food service hours vary throughout the year. We always recommend checking their schedule in advance, though we’re happy to suggest plenty of fantastic alternative dining spots nearby! EV Charging (By Arrangement): We offer on-site EV charging for a flat rate. As the charger is shared with our family home for daily work commutes, it is available by prior arrangement only. Please let us know before arrival (or as soon as you book) so we can reserve your charging window. Unplug & Unwind (Digital Reset): We don't have a TV in the annexe, which our guests love for a proper digital break! If you’d still like to catch up on your favourite shows, we provide super-fast Wi-Fi so you can stream effortlessly on your own laptops, tablets, or phones. Travelling with Little Ones? We have a high chair available free of charge, as well as a travel cot (available for a £10 setup fee). Space is at a premium, so please let us know when booking if you’d like us to set these up in advance for your stay!
