Penny Rose Cottage, Langcliffe - Yorkshire Dales

Unwind at our cosy, and luxurious cottage nestled in the charming village of Langcliffe, close to The Three Peaks. Recently renovated to the highest standard, our quaint retreat provides all the essentials for a perfect stay, including family-friendly amenities. Explore the picturesque village green and enjoy numerous scenic walks in the Yorkshire Dales right from the doorstep (we are close to Malham Cove too). The nearby town of Settle, brimming with amenities, is just a short stroll away. The space Ideal for couples and small families with littles ones, our cosy cottage is full of character and charm. Set over two floors, it has traditional features including oak beams, mullion windows, wooden floors and high quality furnishings. Downstairs, there is a cosy open-plan living room with convenient electric stove, a comfy sofa with blankets, and large plush arm chair, as well as a well-stocked bookshelf, board games (including Yorkhire Dales Monopoly!), Smart TV (with our cottage Netflix!) and Superfast Broadband Wifi - perfect for those who need to work remotely during their stay. The kitchen is well-equipped, with an oven and induction hob, slowcooker, coffee machine and milk frother, cookware, dining table with 2 x chairs and 1 x bench, a large fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. We provide coffee and tea and other kitchen essentials too. A wooden Stokke highchair is available on request. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms and a family bathroom with large luxury shower - we provide a toddler step and toilet insert for little ones, as well as a Shnuggle baby bath on request. The main bedroom is spacious with feather bedding, good quality linen and a smart TV (with Netflix). There is also a hair-dryer, an iron with ironing board and steamer, as well as a travel cot and changing mat for those with little ones (guests usually provide their own bottom sheet for the infant travel cot, but we can provide an additional single bottom sheet if needed and requested). The master bedroom features a double-sized bed with king-size duvet and also dressing area, while the second bedroom has bunk beds (with optional pull out bed at the bottom too that you are free to use), with lots of children's books, a cupboard filled with wooden toys (including train track!) and duplo, and a Yoto player with story cards. A portable bed guard bumper, bluetooth baby monitor, night light and room thermometer is also provided, in addition to a permanent stair gate at the top of the stairs. There is a retractable stair gate at the bottom of the stairs too. Location Nestled in the heart of the peaceful and picturesque Yorkshire Dales hamlet of Langcliffe, the cottage is tucked away from the hustle-and-bustle, with panoramic views from the door-step of the surrounding countryside, limestone scars and tumbling Dales. Langcliffe is a paradise for those who enjoy the outdoors. Once you arrive at the cottage, many of the surrounding Dales can be explored on foot via clearly marked footpaths. We are also perfectly located for walkers and fell-runners seeking to explore the Yorkshire Three Peaks, Pennine Way, Dales Way, Ribble Way etc. Keen cyclists are also spoilt for choice, with many epic routes available through the surrounding Dales right from the doorstep. The beautiful village green (a few seconds walk up our lane, just beyond the water fountain), also has a new wooden play park for little ones. The bustling market town of Settle is located a 3 minute drive away (or 15 minute amble away via a quiet green lane ‘the highway’), where you have everything you need for your stay, from great cafes, pubs, restaurants, boutique shops and great local supermarket, Booths (an Asda petrol station is also very nearby). Guest access Whole cottage plus shed opposite in communal drying garden where you can access and use our pram and 2 x children’s scooters (and fishing nets!). Entrance via key box. Other things to note Small or well behaved dogs are very welcome, we just ask that you keep them off the furniture and clean up any mucky paw-prints at the end of your stay. You can unload directly outside the door. Parking is a few metres up New Street for free in the village - either in the centre near the fountain or opposite the church (1 minute walk from the front door). Local Recommendations In Settle - The Nettle (small plates restaurant), Milano Pizzas, Bailey's (nice bar and small restaurant), Car & Kitchen (lovely shop & great cake and coffee), Ye Old Naked Man (bakery with cafe next door), The Golden Lion (cosy pub with good food), Ruchee (local curry takeaway) and The Folly Coffee House (in a grade 1 listed building). The Courtyard Dairy is nearby and was recently voted Cheesemonger of the year. It's a fantastic cheese shop serving up locally produced cheese, with pizzeria Rind located in the back. There is also an organic wine shop next door selling a great variety of natural wines, as well as a bakery selling delicious Yorkshire sourdough bread. The beautiful village of Malham (of Harry Potter fame!) is accessed via a scenic 7-mile drive from Langcliffe over lime-stone cliffs. Once there, you can walk to Malham Cove and Gordale Scar via Janet’s Foss, and you're spoiled for choice when it comes to cosy pubs - perfect for enjoying a pint by a roaring fire after a wet and wild amble through the Dales. The Yorkshire Three Peaks are a real must-do during your stay for adventure lovers. For those struggling for time, Pen-y-ghent is our personal favourite and the most accessible from the cottage (we park in Horton in Ribblesdale which is an 8 minute drive from the cottage). For wider inspiration, have a flick through the local travel guide in the cottage which provide a round-up of some of the best local rambles and rides. Other local attractions include the iconic Settle-Carlisle railway, White Scar Caves, Gaping Gill, Ingleton Waterfalls Trail, the Ingleborough Nature Trail and Cave in neighboroughing Clapham (visit The Old Sawmill Café before you start), Ribblehead Viaduct and Stainforth Force. A family favourite of ours is taking a circular walk around the village of Austwick (fab play park, and a walk to a stream with a swing over the water and stepping stones) – and you can walk to Feizor from here too, which has a lovely tea room (Elaine's). We also love the riverbank just down from Stainforth Force. Recent guests have also driven to Harrogate (under an hour away) and visited Billy Bob's on the way home (great ice cream!) – this is close to Bolton Abbey and Hesketh Farm Park too.
