Other things to note We have designed our property to be as comfortable and tranquil as possible for our guests but our environmental impact is also very important to us. Some of our efforts include: - Recycling: We recycle and we hope that you will as well during your stay. - Composting: We compost all your organics and this natural fertilizer is then used in all our gardens. - Water: All the black and grey water produce is processed by a specialized treatment system that recycles the water and it is then used for irrigation. - Solar power: The front building runs on solar power and so does the new shared guest area on the second level above the cabinas. - Recycled plastic: A Costa Rican company has recycled 1000's of plastic bottles and has used this to make our patios, front gate, pool furniture and more. - Sustainable Building: Our front building is made of recycled shipping containers, we have rainwater collection tanks and most of the furniture in our rental units was either second hand or has been made by local wood workers. - Conservation and Nature: We have designed our gardens using permaculture principals. Fruit trees have been planted for animals and birds and also flowering plants for butterflies, humming birds and other pollinators. - Community: We choose to shop local and use the services of local businesses as much as possible. We have also donated to and participated in many different community projects.
