The Annexe
Description
Stylish and spacious detached, private annexe in a Dartmoor village The space Situated within Dartmoor National Park and close to the landmark Brentor Church, this detached annexe is ideal for walkers, wildlife lovers and cyclists. The property is located at the edge of the quiet and scenic village of Brentor and stands on the Dartmoor Way/Route 27 cycle route, with open moorland a short stroll down the road. The accommodation consists of a light and spacious open plan bedroom and an en-suite bathroom with shower. The bedroom has a super-king sized bed, with Sealy mattress, goose down duvet and Egyptian cotton bedding. There is a sofa seating area and a breakfast table with provision for breakfast, including a fridge, toaster and kettle. Breakfast – cereals, milk, bread, spreads, tea and coffee – will be provided in the room. There is no kitchen for self-catering. The mezzanine floor, with a ladder staircase, is currently used for storage and not accessible. Guests can self-check in. The annexe is detached, but adjacent to the main property, and separated from the road by a wall and gate, providing for the safe outdoor storage of bicycles – with a bicycle rack and cover provided. The bedroom is peaceful place to stay, with little village traffic. The annexe has wi-fi broadband, but there is no TV or mobile reception (the main house landline phone can be used in an emergency). The quiet village of Brentor is a short stroll from the landmark church of St Michael’s, perched on a rocky outcrop at the western edge of Dartmoor. The village has no amenities, though there are pubs in nearby Lydford (4 miles) and Mary Tavy (2.5 miles), which also has a Post Office shop. The popular historic market town of Tavistock, which has a variety of independent shops and three supermarkets, lies five miles from Brentor, with bus connections. Local taxi services can be booked. Given the distance from Tavistock there is no takeaway food delivery service available. Hosts Charlie and Nicky have lived in the main residence for more than 20 years and will be happy to advise on the local area and help with any questions. If you need anything just ask. For those interested in wildlife, more than 60 species of bird and 20 species of butterfly have been recorded in the immediate vicinity. In late spring, cuckoos can be heard in the valley. A lack of street lighting makes for excellent star-gazing on clear nights. And there is all of Dartmoor to explore on the doorstep – from Bronze Age standing stones to wild tors and wilderness walks. Guest access The detached annexe is adjacent to the main property and accessed through a shared entrance gate. It has its own private entrance and guests can self check-in using a key safe or knock on the front door for help. Other things to note The immediate village area has no mobile reception.
