Description
Get AWAY at our totally private and secluded campsite high up on a hill overlooking a pond with no houses in sight, just wildlife and stars. Choose between bringing a tent or sleeping in our simple A-frame. A composting outhouse is on site as well as an outlet for charging devices. Aside from that you’re on your own! No power goes to the structures and you will need to bring ALL water and supplies- this is a truly beautiful, raw campsite meant for UNPLUGGING and immersing yourself in nature. The space Welcome to Red’s Ridge! After driving almost a mile down a well maintained gravel road you will reach a quiet wooded driveway and take it up to the top of a generous hill. This little spot will feel miles away from civilization yet it’s a quick drive to plenty of great food, hikes, lakes, and everything else Maine has to offer. There’s one close neighbor and chances are you won’t even know they’re on the same mountain. We are 20 mins to Belfast, 15 minutes to The Lost Kitchen, and even closer to several trails and lakes. You’ll hear geese and loons early in the morning and whipper-wills and crickets at night. The stars are absolutely unreal from the campsite and the serenity will make you forget all about running water! Please see the details to note to make sure you understand the layout 😃 Guest access There’s a cabin on the lower part of the property which is private. The upper area is totally yours including the A frame, tent site, fire pit, and outhouse. As well as the best view! Other things to note You will need all wheel drive to access the campsite- it’s important to not bring super low vehicles in. The view comes at that price! You will need to bring ALL your own supplies in. All water, fire starters, cookery, and sleeping gear. We supply firewood and a handy wash basin set up under a shelf for washing up, and we advise people bring self dispensing water jugs like we show in the photo. We can supply a pair of cots, or we can leave the a frame empty for sleeping bags and mats on the floor. The toilet is a simple sawdust composting toilet- a fresh bucket will be supplied for your stay and we will compost it for you after you leave. This is rustic camping! There are snakes, mice, bugs, and coyotes howling at the moon- but if you truly love the outdoors and Maine it’s about as magical as it gets up here on the ridge and you won’t want to leave.
