It´s so peaceful and quiet it´s hard to believe you´re in the center of the city. Breathtaking original design by sculptor-arquitect Kees Grootenboer combines natural materials with energy-efficient appliances and modern comforts. Abundant windows and skylights welcome natural light and beautiful views; spacious interior invites you to relax or work peacefully with good wifi connection. We named this beautiful apartment after my beloved mother, Lavinia, who admired beauty and appreciated comfort. Guest access Entrance is through historic Spanish-style building housing a cultural center, La Casa del Pan Bakery & Cardamomo Indian Restaurant. Spanish, meditation and yoga classes are available in the building, as well as massage, reiki and osteopathic therapies by appointment. Documentaries and selected movies are shown most evenings downstairs. Live music in the restaurant on weekends does not interfere with the peace and quiet upstairs. Other things to note In our high mountain valley we sometimes experience cold nights! You can request a space heater for a, small, additional fee. While the apartment is in the heart of the historic center, it is a quiet rooftop retreat, a few steps away from live music, theater and cultural activity in the neighborhood. Restaurants, markets, travel agents, bookstores and shopping are nearby. You also have easy access to a variety of transportation services including our local mini buses (colectivos) and taxis. The washer-dryer is energy-saving, super-quiet but requires 6 hours to finish its cycle of wash & dry. Please note this and plan ahead, if you want to wash your clothes. Also, it uses very little liquid detergent, which we supply, of an eco-friendly variety and 1/2-cup of which should be added directly on the clothes and not in the soap dispenser.
