The Jenkins family has owned the beach since 1940, and over the years thousands have visited to enjoy the pristine wonder of Green Lake. Last year, Julie bought the business from her father and we have engaged in extensive renovations of the property. In addition to completely revitalizing and modernizing the camps, we have also hired an environmental consultant to assist in our landscaping and cleanup plan that centers native flora, supports local fauna, and helps ensure the ecological health of the lake for the future. The beach includes over 200’ of sandy lakefront access. We have 34 canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards and multiple docks for guests to use. We also contract with a local boat rental agency if guests wish to rent a pontoon boat for the day or week. The entire property has high-speed WiFi coverage, the camps all have multiple SnartTVs, there is plenty of free parking, and we can accommodate EV charging as well. The swimming at Jenkins Beach is unparalleled (where guests can enjoy our two water trampolines and docks), the deep waters of Green Lake offer some of the best fishing in New England, and the fall foliage in the area is absolutely spectacular. We are also located just 27 miles from the natural wonders of Acadia National Park. The beach remains closed to the public as we complete projects here on the property. This means that guests enjoy the unique experience of having a one-of-a-kind private beach on a lake in Maine during their stay. Jenkins Beach is a business that strives and works to be a safe and accessible space for all. We believe in and support racial justice, gender equity, and LGBTQ+ rights. We welcome all those who respect others. Guest access The entire beach—including the enormous swimming area, the boating cove where you can launch kayaks and canoes for trips out on the lake, and the serene picnic area under our 80 year old centerpiece oak tree—is yours during your stay! Other things to note September through October is our absolute favorite time at Jenkins Beach. Green Lake is gorgeous and serene. The leaves along the lake explode into a kaleidoscope of color; first slowly, then all-at-once. Fishing season winds down, but there are fewer lines in the water reeling for even more mature fish. Kayaking through the low-lying mist at daybreak is a truly rejuvenating experience. If you’re a retired person or someone who is looking for a tranquil getaway, the kids are back to school, most of the jet skis have been put away for the season, and there’s pure serenity on the water. Our camps are an amazing place to relax for a working vacation, sipping coffee and taking your Zoom calls from the front deck overlooking the beach. Janet from accounting will be so jealous. There’s also no sweeter spot for a couple’s week away. The dark autumn skies are full of stars and the moon’s reflection illuminates the lake. What’s more romantic than that? And did I mention that you can drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park without fighting the summer traffic? Go take a bike ride on the Carriage Roads, eat a popover at Jordan Pond House, and still make it back to Green Lake for a late afternoon paddle. With their newly insulated walls, weather-tight windows, brand new weather-resistant siding, and mini-split heat pumps, our camps are now truly three-season properties. Come enjoy a cozy, comfy week with us at Jenkins Beach this fall!
