Description

Spacious 2-bedroom, 1-bath 2nd floor apartment complete with a private entrance. Located just half a mile from downtown Lexington, you'll be a short drive or a 15-20 min walk away from a variety of exceptional shops, restaurants, as well as both universities The apartment features a modern, fully stocked kitchen and a comfortable living room with a pull-out couch and a large-screen TV. The dining room table expands to comfortably seat up to 8 people, making it perfect for meals or gatherings The space Step into a piece of Lexington’s history with this unique, fully furnished home on the second floor, featuring a private entrance. Originally built in 1909 and converted into a duplex in the 1950s, this residence has a storied past. Alma and Umberto Piovano, long-time residents of the second-floor "apartment," were cherished benefactors who made significant contributions to the growth and culture of Lexington. Their legacy is honored with a dedicated wing at the local library and the Piovano building on Spotswood Drive, which now houses the Rockbridge Area Relief Organization. Alma’s personal touch included the installation of a second-floor balcony at her own expense, where she enjoyed morning tea and evening sherry. Although this private patio was removed in the 1990s when the previous owner expanded the house, the home still retains its historic charm. The kitchen, bathroom, and fixtures were updated last year to blend modern comforts with the vintage character of the space. Each bedroom features a luxurious queen-sized memory foam mattress topped with 600 thread count cotton sheets and an oversized white linen duvet, ensuring a restful night’s sleep. The kitchen is modern and fully stocked, including a full-sized refrigerator, stove, range hood, microwave, toaster oven, and a set of sharp knives. For coffee enthusiasts, a Saeko coffeemaker, loaded with locally roasted coffee beans, is at your disposal. The living room is equipped with a queen-sized sleeper sofa, a desk/workstation, and a 55-inch wall-mounted, movable flat-screen TV for your entertainment and productivity needs. The bathroom offers a full-sized shower and cast-iron tub and a bidet for added comfort. In the dining room, the expandable table accommodates up to 8 guests, perfect for entertaining or family meals. Guest access The private entrance is off the back porch. Touchscreen deadbolt secures the property and offers a contact free check in if desired. Parking is assigned in spots 1 and 2. There is also a 15 min loading and unloading parking area right by the door. Guests are welcome to use the back porch and firepit. The full second floor is at the guest's disposal. Other things to note This is a non-toxic and fragrance-free home. We use a solution of vinegar, water, and dish soap to clean all surfaces and then disinfect with hospital grade Briotech Hypochlorous Acid. We use only All Free and Clear laundry soap and never use fabric softeners or dryer sheets. We launder duvet covers along with sheets. All additional blankets provided are also laundered after every guest. We do use essential oils (thieves, lavender, melaleuca, and rosemary) for cleaning and freshening our home. We provide natural castile soap for handwashing.
