Unique Rustic Romantic Hideaway
Description
Ready to get cozy and enjoy the charms and unique character of this rustic hideaway? As its name suggests, ‘Minnow’ is a ‘small’ 18th century worker's cottage in the historic Cornish town of Lostwithiel. It’s rustic up-cycled décor alongside modern additions such as underfloor heating, wood burner and roll top bath, makes it a rare haven for couples looking for a romantic and relaxing escape. A perfect retreat after days spent exploring everything Cornwall has to offer. We are dog friendly too! The space Small but well-formed, Minnow cottage’s eclectic interior has been designed to maximise its space. The combination of rustic and modern furnishings provides a unique and romantic setting for a relaxing and memorable break. The entrance porch provides ample space to take off your walking boots and wellies, hang up your coats, hats, scarves, gloves and dog lead from the day’s activities. Don’t forget to pick up some logs from the log store here ready to get the wood burner going as you prepare to settle in for the evening. The front door leads straight into the open plan living room and kitchen. The underfloor heating, under the traditional slate floor, will ensure you warm up straightaway, however don’t use that as an excuse not to light the fire for extra coziness. Blankets and cushions are aplenty alongside a selection of books, board games and a record player to keep you entertained. The kitchen includes a hob, oven, combi microwave and oven, small fridge freezer and dishwasher alongside all the utensils, pans, dishes and crockery you will need during your stay with a ‘breakfast bar’ style seating area to eat from. The ‘hit and miss’ stairs* lead you from the kitchen up to the bedroom on the first floor with its traditional wooden floorboards and exposed timber beams. Here you’ll find a double bed with hanging closet space and a chest of drawers as well as a wall-mounted TV. The bathroom is also on the first floor with toilet, vintage copper basin sink, heated towel rail and rainfall dual shower. A pull-out library ladder takes you from the bedroom up to the mezzanine floor which hosts a traditional roll top bath. Here you can soak away the day’s activities whilst you watch the stars and night sky in complete privacy through the open roof’s window. There is a small outdoor seating area to the front of the cottage. Towels and linen included. Decorated for Christmas. *Please take extra care when using these stairs. Given the design of these stairs, Minnow cottage is not suitable for people with mobility issues. Guest access Guests have full access to the cottage. Other things to note Due to the narrow design of the 'hit and miss' staircase, Minnow cottage is not suitable for people with limited mobility.
