Description

A newly renovated cosy cottage, for 5 guests, set within a quiet Somerset country lane with views of farms, fields and the magical Glastonbury Tor. The Cottage at Brook Farm is a special place to have a relaxing holiday, work trip or visit some of the local sights. An historic 160-year-old traditionally built blue lias stone dwelling, next to the main Brook Farm House. Located between Southwood and Catsham, near the village of Baltonsborough, Glastonbury, Millfield School and Clarks Village. The space The Property: The Cottage at Brook Farm is a great place for couples, friends, small work groups & small families, with the accommdation having two double rooms and a single room. The whole area is great for walks, cycling, eating, shopping and sightseeing - see our handy local e-guidebook for ideas on the AirBnB site. Recently renovated, throughout, with a new heating system and WIFI, it has a well-equipped kitchen-diner, a lovely lounge with log wood burner, three bedrooms and a bathroom, so plenty of living space and an outside area to relax. Electric vehicle (EV) charger is free to use as part of the rental and there is ample parking for 2 cars. Please bring your own EV charging cable. Living space: The newly refurbished accommodation has been renovated throughout, with a new slate roof, all rooms replastered and redecorated in a simple classic style, cool in Summer and lovely and warm in Winter, with a new oil tanked central heating & good hot water system throughout. There is also the bonus of a traditional wood log burner in the lounge for an extra cozy feel on a cold night. The internet has been set up with Starlink for reliability, and there are ethernet points downstairs and WIFI throughout. As you enter the Cottage through the front door, you have a cloak cupboard for coats and shoes and a short hallway leading into the open plan traditional kitchen and diner. The kitchen-diner is well equipped with an electric induction hob/oven, microwave oven, toaster, kettle, midi fridge/freezer, pans, utensils, crockery, cutlery, glasses and more. There is a generous kitchen dining table and 6 chairs in this area for eating together. Off to the left is a good-sized lounge with large comfy sofa, two comfy armchairs, a coffee table, a wood log burner, a 40-inch TCL Roku Full HD smart TV to watch your favourite shows, and a convenient desk & chair for working on with ethernet point and power sockets right under it. At the back of the kitchen-diner is a back door leading onto a small outside area with table chairs and lovely views of the farmer’s fields behind. Please note that the outside space and garden for use of the Cottage joins up with the main garden at Brook Farm but is marked out with a simple fence for privacy. Up some steep stairs inside are three good sized bedrooms and a bathroom. NOTE: The wooden staircase is very steep as original to the Cottage, so would not suit anyone who is unsteady or unstable on their feet ie. Older or very young guests. The master bedroom has a new king double bed with new Emma mattress, mattress protector, pillows and new bed linen. There is a vanity table, mirror and chair, hair dryer, two bedside tables and a place to unpack and hang clothes. There are 3 acres in total surrounding the Brook Farm plot belonging to the main Brook Farm house, so we are not overlooked making it a beautiful and tranquil setting . The Cottage is ideal for couples, small groups of friends, small working groups or small families. This accommodation is not suitable for hen or stag parties or any groups who would like to party. Please note that smoking and pets are not allowed. Other things to note: Baltonsborough village, approx.1 mile away, has a church, a pub (The Greyhound), and a local shop which stocks groceries, pastries and every day amenities, and a childrens play area outside. There is another local shop in Butleigh which doubles as the post office only 3 miles away. Baltonsborough also has a local playing field for ball games and play area with children’s zip wire behind the primary school. We are happy to help with recommendations for local eateries and arranging special items for birthdays or any other special occasions from local traders ( subject to individual pricing) to include balloons, cakes, flowers. “Ian’s Woodfired Pizza” van comes to serve outside Baltonsborough Village Hall every Thursday 5pm-8pm, walk-up or pre-order take away, and then “The Big Chipper” Fish & Chip van comes every Friday outside the The Greyhound Pub, Baltonsborough. There are some amazing walks with well marked footpaths from the Cottage to Baltonsborough, or over to Butleigh Woods & the Somerset levels. The Cottage has easy access by road to Street, Glastonbury, Millfield School, Wells, Yeovil, Bath and then there is also Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge only 30-40 minutes drive away. If shopping is your thing then Clarks Village (the outlet shopping village) is only a short drive away, located in Street.
