Description
A beautiful, relaxing lakeside lodge located on the private Marina at Isleham on the Suffolk and Cambridge border. The marina is well located for visits to the historic locations of Ely (7 miles), Bury St Edmonds (15 miles) and Cambridge (16 miles) The National Trust’s Wicken Fen nature reserve is also 6 miles away. Having a day at the races? Newmarket is only 9 miles away. The space The main bedroom has one double bed, wardrobe space and TV. The second bedroom has a small double bed and wardrobe space. The 2 sofas in the lounge convert to beds that accommodate 2 guests on each. The lounge has a dining table and TV. There is an outdoor sofa and dining set on the terrace overlooking the lake. The kitchen is well appointed with everything you’d expect including an air fryer and washing machine and tumble dryer Paddle board and double and single canoe available at no additional charge. The lake, in your Garden, at this lodge boasts numerous fish to an impressive size ie Tench 6lb, bream7lb, rudd 3lb. roach 1lb with the best "bags" being in the spring between February and May. Up to 9 specimen tench, and 20 bream with numerous rudd up to 2lb have been recorded by 1 fisherman in the spring each year There is also good predatory fishing of Perch up to 3lb, and many, many pike up to 18lb , with the occasional Zander up to 12lb, with over a dozen caught by lodge residents over the past year . You may night fish, with alarms, if you have receivers but please keep the loudness to an operating minimum. This lodge has about twice the frontage onto the water of most other lodges (65ft) and will easily accommodate 4 fishermen with 2 rods each, or 3 with 3 rods each. close season fishing is permissible, but rod licences are required Birdlife abounds with kingfishers darting over the water of the lake, herons, terns, sandpipers, and oystercatchers, along with swallows, swifts, house martins, are visitors throughout the year. At dawn and dusk, a common sight is the otters, along with the occasional Barn Owl Within the 53 acres, you may walk accompanied by dogs on lead and fish, or just enjoy the river Lark that encompasses the Marina. If you are feeling energetic, there are numerous footpaths in the area and can walk along the banks of the river Lark to Prickwillow, or a local pub Judes Ferry. Great place to unwind and relax and to fish and have fun on the water. Other things to note Pets allowed (surcharge applies)
