The Dogtrot at Standard Deluxe - Waverly, AL

This recently-renovated apartment is perfectly located for your visit to Waverly or a nearby location (Auburn, Opelika, Lake Martin). It is situated on the creative grounds of Standard Deluxe -- an iconic Southern print shop and music venue that presents the Old 280 Boogie and other music performances and events throughout the year. It’s only a 15-minute drive into downtown Auburn and downtown Opelika, so stay here for easy access to an event at Auburn University or for a relaxing getaway. The space The Dogtrot apartment features a relaxing living room space with a TV, a dining table that seats up to four, and a full kitchen with an oven/stove, toaster oven, fridge, coffee maker, tea kettle, and items needed for cooking. The secluded bedroom includes a queen-sized bed and lounge area. The bathroom is designed for relaxing with a beautifully-tiled, large walk-in shower and a reading bench with a refurbished window looking out over Menefee Pond Road. Enjoy the front porch, which faces a native plant garden. When in bloom, it plays host to many butterflies and hummingbirds -- a perfect spot for a morning cup of coffee or tea in one of the rocking chairs. The Dogtrot was renovated in a style that pays homage to the history of the area. The original house was home to generations of Waverly families, and the original structure is completely intact. The vast majority of materials are ones repurposed from the original house, other buildings on the grounds of Standard Deluxe, and buildings from the area. The artwork throughout the apartment includes vintage, hand-painted Southern signs and Standard Deluxe hand-printed posters. Next to the apartment is a large dogtrot -- an opening through the center of the building. This style is one used historically, prior to Air Conditioning technology, to allow for airflow. The Apartment is a 2-block walk from the entrance to Standard Deluxe's creative grounds where music shows take place. There is also a bar and the Feed Shak on site, which hosts pop-up meals by guest chefs. Check out the Standard Deluxe website for the event calendar. Also only a short 2-block walk from the apartment is The Waverly Local restaurant and a small shopping district. Guest access Guests have complete privacy when staying at The Dogtrot, and there is ample parking in front. Other things to note We are in a very rural location. Our nearest gas station, grocery store and other shopping is about a 10-15 minute drive in either direction on Hwy 280. The house has basic cooking essentials – pots and pans, cooking oil, vinegar, salt, pepper and herbs.
