Description

Whether you’re a rambler, hiker, cyclist, explorer, a couple looking for a romantic retreat, or are just in need of comfortable accommodation in a traditional Peak District village, here's the answer. Chinley is a relatively undiscovered gem of Derbyshire’s Peak District. A quiet, quaint and traditional Derbyshire village with excellent amenities (curry house, fish and chips, tapas and wine bar, cheese shop, village store, pubs etc), all within a couple of minutes walk from the accommodation. The space The apartment is my home, but as I travel a fair bit for work this gives me the opportunity to share both it, and the joys of Chinley, with guests. This is equally a space for relaxing, hunkering down, feeling inspired OR heading out to explore, knowing that a comfortable haven awaits you. Please though be mindful of my wonderful neighbours - this isn’t a place for parties or excessive behaviour. Chinley Lodge was formerly The Prince's Hotel and was opened by the Prince of Wales in 1902. In the days when Chinley station was on the main Manchester to London train line, the hotel would be packed with travellers and tourists. Several years ago, having fallen into disrepair, it was beautifully restored and converted into the well-maintained block that now exists. Most of the independent shops, cafes and amenities in the village are 2/3min walk from the apartment, and a little further uphill you’ll find Chinley Park Nature Reserve, which is lovingly looked after by local volunteers (and next to the village’s community centre is the recreation ground and play area). For hill walks from Chinley you can hike up to Cracken Edge, Eccles Pike and through the village to South Head. Many locals walk or run over the hills to Edale and then catch the train back home. If a walk on more level ground appeals, you can try the Tramway Trail to Buxworth Canal Basin, an historic inland port on the Peak Forest canal, now managed by the Canal and River Trust for heritage and wildlife. The apartment has it’s own private entrance & onsite parking space, and is comfortably and tastefully furnished, with relaxing furniture and stylish pieces. It’s ideally located to either enjoy the peace and quiet of Chinley itself, or be the perfect base for exploring the wonderful natural beauty of the Peak District. The apartment has: * Superfast WiFi, which provides a strong signal throughout * Large entrance hallway with shoe-rack and coat-rack * Spacious kitchen area with oven/grill, hobs, microwave, kettle, toaster, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, breakfast bar + stools, washing machine (with spin dryer) fully connected smart speaker * Clean and bright bathroom with bathtub, WC, sink and mirrored vanity cabinet * Spacious living room with high ceilings, parquet flooring, bay window, 3 & 2 seater sofas with large pouffe, specific dining area with large table and four chairs, open decorative fireplace area with coffee table and chairs, beautiful antique sideboard, Ultra High Definition 55inch smart TV and soundbar, artwork and ceramic pieces throughout * Large bedroom with comfortable double-bed (and Simba mattress), bedside tables, reading lamps, and ample storage in the form of a large built-in wardrobe and shelving. The bathroom is directly opposite. * Spacious ensuite second bedroom with double-bed (and Simba mattress), bedside tables, reading lamps, desk/dressing-table area, large built-in wardrobe, separate walk-in wardrobe area, ensuite with shower/WC/sink/mirrored vanity cabinet Enjoy all the home comforts you could need in this cosy, tranquil oasis! Guest access Aside from having the dramatic views of Cracken Edge and Eccles Pike on your doorstop, you’re also a short drive/bus/train (Chinley Station is a 3min walk) journey from all the best that the Peak District (and beyond!) has to offer... Buxton - 20min drive Kinder Scout - 25min drive Hathersage - 30min drive or 22min direct train Castleton - 15min drive Bakewell - 30min drive Bamford Edge - 30min drive Ladybower resevoir - 30min drive Eyam - 25min drive Chatsworth - 30min drive Tideswell - 20min drive Sheffield - 30min train Manchester - 28min train Other things to note You will have full access to the whole apartment.
