Come and relax under the huge Norfolk skies and immerse yourself in this special environment. By day watch the Marsh Harriers and Red Kites soaring above you, then at dusk see the Barn Owl silently hunt across the marsh. At night, drift off to sleep listening to the call of the deer and the owls. Our quaint and cosy shepherd’s hut is built to a traditional Norfolk design on a 1900’s vintage farm cart chassis and is situated in its own in a one-acre paddock on our working small holding. The space Our shepherd's hut is open plan accommodation, with a separate bathroom hut and an outdoor under cover kitchen. The Shepherd’s Hut The living/sleeping area features, A cosy double bed which includes under bed baskets for storage. Log-burning stove. Double bench seat with cushions. Basic kitchen equipment. Local interest books 240v power supply (provided by an off-grid system so it has its limits). Welcome basket of tea, coffee and other treats - including marshmallows and skewers for the firepit. The Outdoor Kitchen Shack The outdoor kitchen is built entirely from reclaimed materials from an old barn. Is located adjacent to the hut, not far from the firepit. It contains, A double gas fuelled burner and grill. Utensils, cutlery, crockery and gas stove kettle. Firewood for the log-burning stove and the firepit. Washing up equipment with bowl, eco-friendly washing-up liquid and tea towels The Bathroom Hut The bathroom hut is based on a 1940’s farm trailer. It is built mainly from reclaimed materials from an old milking shed that stood on the marsh. It contains, A gas powered hot water shower which holds a constant heat. Sink with cold tap. Composting toilet, with no whiffs or fuss. It uses wood shavings. Outdoor cold tap for the kitchen. The Outdoor Area The outdoor area consists of a whole one acre paddock which has some mown areas and paths and some areas where the grass is left to grow. Your paddock is separated by a wire fence from a larger grazing paddock which usually home to our flock of sheep. On the opposite side is a tall mature hedge and view from the end of the paddock looks out across the Haddiscoe marshes. On the mown area there is seating, a table and a fire pit with hanging grill. Guest access Check in On arrival you will enter our small yard via a locked gate (the code will be given to you before you arrive) and you will find the hut key in a key box on the paddock gatepost (again, the code will be given to you before arrival). The car parking area is clearing marked in the yard between two rows of bales. Its then a 150m walk down the paddock to the accommodation. Other things to note Towels and linen are provided Basic Eco-friendly toiletries are provided Logs and kindling are provided for the fire pit and log burner. Some charcoal provided. (more available at extra cost). Unfortunately, due to our livestock dogs are not permitted. Please note that check-in is from 2pm and check-out is at 10am. There is no Wi-fi and the mobile reception can be patchy depending on your network. Off-grid Solar and battery power supply. This provides the lighting in the main hut and a 240v power supply. This is suitable for charging devices and running small appliances, but will not cope with things such as hairdryers.
