Hideout under Mount Gozo

Take it easy at this unique getaway. The house is under a mountain named Mount Gozo by the Maltese who were taken to the island in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Missing Malta, Gozo and Comino, the three islands that comprise the Maltese archipelago, they saw something familiar in the mountain, and named it for their longing. Mt. Gozo is a memory trace. Take time to relax, look at the sun set over the distant sea, and enjoy this quiet and thought-provoking hideout. The space The property, set apart on the hillside in the area known as Morne Delice, was the main house of a cocoa estate during the 20th century. Like all of the island, it is part of the modern face of what used to be colonial Grenada. You will be occupying one or all of three comfortable sized bedrooms. Additionally there's a large bathroom area (toilet, shower, face basin, kitchen, living and dining room. A verandah at front and one side of the house gives a view of the sea in the distance. On the verandah, expect an inviting breeze. Inside there are large air-conditioner fans in each room. These are fans that operate with water that can be replaced if you're there long enough (3 days approximately) and the drum goes dry. We find them really effective but if you don't, do let us know. There's also a washroom with washing machine just beyond the kitchen and a space with ironing board and iron just off the dining room. If you have a guide dog, she/he is welcome. Another (one more) furry friend is also welcome. We depend on you to be sure that any furry friend respects the space just as you will. There's lots of space outside for exercise for you and your friends. You may also enjoy walks in the very quiet neighborhood. We respect your privacy so there are no cameras inside. We want to be sure you feel safe, so there are outside security cameras. The property is set well apart from the much-travelled areas, so you will need some form of transport. Local buses are also available but not always reliable. A rental car would be helpful or we could suggest transport (taxis) that we often use. If you enjoy long walks, you may want to take on this (a walk of approximately one mile and a half) to buses that would get you into the capital in 10 to 15 minutes. We feel sure that you will be comfortable at the house. Enjoy your stay - and please contact us with questions or for general advice. Guest access Before you arrive, we will give you precise details for access to the house. Other things to note The wooden house in the outside yard space is not currently occupied. The owner uses it for storage of various items. The wooden structures around the yard are old estate structures and the owner aims to preserve them. They suggest the history of the area.
