Welcome to the Quilted Cozy, a private 2 BR/1Bath guesthouse located in a peaceful, country setting 30 minutes from Gettysburg, PA, Frederick and Westminster, MD. Ideal for cyclists with numerous deserted country roads to explore as well as for remote workers with business internet service. This unit includes a fully functioning kitchen, shared laundry access, and a recently renovated serene sunporch, as well as an outdoor patio space with fire pit. Pet friendly, fenced in yard access available. The space This is a beautiful private 2BR/1Bath, 900 square-foot guesthouse attached to the host's main home with ample views of the Maryland countryside. A lovely outdoor space leading to a private sunporch and the guesthouse's main entry gives you all the cozy vibes you are craving! This property was once part of Terra Rubra, the plantation that was the childhood home of Francis Scott Key (author of the Star Spangled Banner). In the vicinity are many historic battlefields of the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. Deserted country roads are ideal for cycling enthusiasts. The host can provide suggested rides through Ride with GPS. The Quilted Cozy gets its name from the hand-made quilts by a local artisan featured throughout the guesthouse, and many are available for sale, too. These colorful designs are playful, warm, and inviting- exactly how I hope you'll feel about this space the minute you enter. You are welcomed by an electric fireplace, an open floor plan, and abundant natural light. The space is easy for single travelers or a small group alike, giving everyone ample space to enjoy themselves. Pet friendly, quiet, and very clean makes this a gem of a find. Cooking at home is easy in the streamlined kitchen (nearby grocery stores are within 15 minutes), while having the option to enjoy restaurants and shops in either Gettysburg, PA or Frederick and Westminster, MD within 30 minutes. Plenty of suggestions for local restaurants and things to do, including the quaint local wineries (I especially love Catoctin Breeze Vineyard!) and artisan breweries are available to you here. The Quilted Cozy contains plenty of sleeping options with 3 beds (1 king, 1 queen, 1 twin) and a sleeper sofa in the living room. And if you're looking for a space to work while enjoying the area, you're in luck! The standing desk accompanied by an office chair creates a comfortable, quiet place for productivity, while utilizing the benefit of business WiFi. And if you're traveling with a pet, this space is for you! I allow a maximum of 1 pet with a $100 nonrefundable pet fee. Beautiful land for long walks and a fenced-in backyard is available anytime you may need it. Guest access The fully private guesthouse is attached to the host's main home, and the laundry room is the only shared space with the host and family. You also have full access to the outdoor patio space, fire pit and yard. The host has a shared fenced-in yard that is accessible from the guesthouse sunporch or laundry room. Garage and barn access is not available to guests. Please DO NOT park to the left of the storage shed or in front of the garage. Other things to note The host owns and operates a mobile veterinary business from the main home. Employees will arrive M-F around 8:30 AM and finish by 7:00 PM. Please DO NOT park to the left of the storage shed or in front of the garage. You may occasionally see employees walking from the garage to the basement stairs located in front of the guesthouse. All windows have privacy shades for this reason. Otherwise, there is no overlap between the business and any guest(s). Intermittently, business clients will approach the host's front door to pick up medications or drop off samples. Guests should just be aware of occasional foot traffic, though clients have no access to the guesthouse entrance. All guesthouse tenants are to park between the storage shed and garage or out next to the red barn accessible from the Hagerstown Lane. Garage and barn access are not included to guests. The guesthouse is a non-smoking space, so please refrain from smoking inside the home or within 25 feet of any exterior doors. Any smoking evidence will result in a $500 cleaning fee for odor removal, including ducts, furniture, quilts, and rug cleaning. Please ask the host about the quilted wall hangings, as some are available for sale.
