Riverside gite with views

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. Based on the River Lot you have access to the river, the gardens and the surrounding countryside. You can swim, kayak, fish, hike or cycle from the house. The town of Prayssac is a short 5 minute drive away with a cinema, restaurants, Boulangerie and three supermarkets. Surrounded by vineyards you can visit the local vignobles and treat yourself to the Malbec wines of this region. You can also simply relax and admire the views. The space Our gite consists of a kitchen with dining and sitting area downstairs, with full width windows overlooking the river Lot. Upstairs there is a large lounge, again with full width windows overlooking the river, a large bedroom with king size bed, a wardrobe room with space for hanging and cases, and a bathroom with a powerful shower over the bath. The gite is a barn conversion, with characterful thick stone walls. The gite enjoys an elevated position some eight metres above water level (depending on the time of year), and guests will enjoy our 150 metres of private river bank accessed by a path from the upper garden. a kayak can be made available, or some more adventurous souls will enjoy wild swimming in the serene waters of the Lot. The area is particularly blessed with beautiful and quiet roads for cycling. The adventure begins directly at our front door and guests can choose routes suitable for all levels of fitness and ability. The local town, Prayssac, has a bike shop with rental bikes available. Booking in advance is advisable. We can securely store any bikes in the part of the barn that hasn’t been converted thus far. Prayssac also boasts the best traditional street market in the district, taking place on Friday mornings all year round. Not to be missed if you like your produce as fresh as it comes. There is a freshly upgraded cinema in the town, often showing films in original English, with or without subtitles, and of course the best of French cinema. There are three supermarkets servicing the town, plus an abundance of small local shops and boulongeries. Prayssac is a wonderful French town, with everything the holidaymaker could wish for. Numerous other picturesque villages and towns are within easy driving or cycling distance. Guest access Guest will have exclusive access to the gite itself while the garden area is shared with the owners and their (mostly) well behaved small dogs. There is ample space for guests to enjoy their solitude, from the veranda in front of the gite overlooking the river, to the various seating areas in the main garden. The owners will respect your distance and privacy at all times, with only the occasional interaction to ensure everything is in line with your expectations. Other things to note Our gite is on two levels and has stairs. It has not been “kiddie proofed” and we would deem it unsuitable for children and those unfortunate enough to be less mobile. It is not wheelchair friendly.
