This charming cottage in the heart of the bustling town of Hawkshead is occupies and ideal central location from which to explore the Lake District National Park. Sleeping five people over three rooms, it’s ideal for families who love the great outdoors. Surrounded by picturesque scenery, there are plenty of walks on your doorstep, but you also have the advantage of the historic town’s independent shops and eateries amongst its traffic-free, cobbled streets. The space The local area has something for everyone from museums and galleries to historic houses to outdoor activities. This end-of-terrace cottage is light and airy, with modern décor making it feel welcoming and comfortable throughout. After discarding boots and coats in the small porch, head into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner where irregular angles add a sense of quirkiness to the space. After a busy day, sink into the comfy sofas in front of the Smart TV before cooking up a hearty meal to enjoy at the dining table. Upstairs, there are three well-presented bedrooms, which once again make the most of the unusual angled. Completing the accommodation is a tiled shower room. Outside, there’s a small patio for dogs to stretch their legs whilst you enjoy a morning coffee. Hawskhead is popular with visitors for a number of reasons. Located to the north of Esthwaite Water, the town is steeped in history with links to the well-loved writers Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth, with Beatrix Potter’s house, Hill Top, in Near Sawrey (2.5 miles). If you’re more of an adrenaline junkie, perhaps you’d prefer a woodland adventure at Grizedale Forest (3.5 miles) with mountain biking, tree-climbing and an adventure playground. A visit to the Lakes wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Lake Windermere (4 miles); you can get the ferry across to the larger town of Bowness-on-Windermere (10 miles).
