Description

Tucked into 8 acres of gorgeous Alaskan wilderness, Swift Creek Cabin is your perfect base near McCarthy/Kennicott. Just 3.5 miles from the footbridge, drive right to this peaceful log cabin. Features a mini-kitchenette, hot shower house, clean outhouse, small-device charging station, epic views, and space for 3. Come experience authentic Alaska at Swift Creek! Check-in: 4–7pm The space Swift Creek Cabin comfortably sleeps up to three guests, with a cozy full-sized bed and a mini-loft twin bunk. This charming, studio-style log cabin blends rustic appeal with just the right touches of comfort. After a day exploring McCarthy and Kennicott, unwind in the peace and privacy of your own Alaskan retreat. Set on nearly 8 acres of wilderness, Swift Creek overlooks the breathtaking Chitina River Valley and Chugach Mountains. The property includes two 12’ x 16’ log cabins—one is my home, and the other is for guests. Your cabin includes: • Stunning valley and mountain views • Wildlife viewing opportunites • Private outdoor shower house and clean, well-maintained outhouse (no indoor bathroom) • Mini-kitchenette with two-burner cooktop (ideal for simple meals) • Basic cookware, dishes, and utensils • Filtered drinking water and non-potable water for dishes/showers • Charging station for small devices (no CPAPs please) • Wall heater for cozy warmth • Solar and propane lighting • Cozy bedding and towels • Privacy—and unforgettable memories! There is no refrigerator, but coolers with ice packs work great! If you need to borrow a cooler, just ask—I’ll have one ready for you! Guest access Guests have exclusive use of the entire Swift Creek Cabin and its outdoor spaces, including the private outdoor log shower house and clean, well-maintained outhouse. I live on the same property, which spans nearly 8 acres of beautiful Alaskan wilderness. Parking is available right at the cabin for your convenience. Other things to note Common Questions Can we drive to the cabin? Yes! What happens to our trash? Pack it in, pack it out. Please take all trash, food, and gear with you—there’s no landfill here. If you prefer not to haul it out, we can dispose of it for $25 per 13-gallon bag to cover removal costs. What about water? Drinking water is filtered through a Berkey Water Filter. Non-potable water is provided for dishes and showers in limited quantities—please conserve when possible. Do the cabins have WiFi? No, but hotspots are available in McCarthy and Kennicott through Copper Valley Telephone (CVT). CVT and Verizon work well; AT&T does not. How is our food kept cold? Swift Creek Cabin does not have a refrigerator, but coolers with ice or cold packs work great! Please store all food inside to avoid attracting bears. Ice can be hard to find in McCarthy, so bring plenty! Do you allow pets? Sorry, no we don't. Being off-grid without traditional electricity makes thorough cleaning after pets difficult. Is there gas in McCarthy? Usually yes, near the end of McCarthy Road—but always fill up in Glennallen, Kenny Lake, or Chitina before heading out. Is there a store nearby? Yes, a small general store in McCarthy carries basics, but it’s best to bring most of what you’ll need with you. Please note: Swift Creek Cabin does not have an indoor bathroom; it features a private outdoor shower house and a clean, well-maintained outhouse just steps from the cabin. Cancellation Policy Due to our short season and remote location, we use Airbnb’s Strict Cancellation Policy. We recommend purchasing travel insurance for peace of mind in case your plans change unexpectedly. Come explore this historic area and enjoy a true Alaska experience at one of our cozy McCarthy Cabins. I’m happy to answer any other questions!
