Relax and kick back in The Lime House - a beautiful and homely retreat perched on the border of the Royal Forest of Dean and stunning Wye Valley. It offers stunning, uninterrupted views across fields and forests. The cottage is in Staunton – a thriving village and mecca for local walking and mountain biking trails on the England/Wales border. Outdoor lovers will be spoilt for choice. The space A warm welcome to The Lime House! We pride ourselves on attention to detail and invite you to treat yourself to a real 'home from home'. If you want to switch off and rejuvenate, you're guaranteed an amazing night's sleep in the super comfy king-size bed. The retreat has all the modern home comforts you'd expect, too - including a dishwasher, fast WiFi and good selection of TV channels. Enjoy a coffee, glass of wine or BBQ on your large elevated private balcony, surrounded by nature. You’ll often see deer, birds of prey and other wildlife. The property is located above the garage, maximising the views. It comprises: - A huge open plan bedroom / lounge with double doors onto the balcony - A separate well equipped kitchen - A bathroom with newly installed bathroom suite (bath and electric shower). - Secure bike storage if you need it. We can provide an extra mattress for a child on request. We’re situated up a farm track, making this a very peaceful, tranquil spot away from the roads. However, The Lime House is just a 3-minute walk into Staunton village. OUT AND ABOUT If you make it out of the property, you'll find Staunton to be a welcoming village with one of the best foodie pubs in the area. The White Horse is 5* reviewed on Trip Advisor and stands out for its ambiance, amazing steaks and delicious vegetarian fayre. Staunton is most famous for its forest trails, and you’ll find abundant footpaths from the house. This includes the Wysis Way, an 88km route, and in the other direction, local loops around Stowfield Quarry. With bikes, it’s easy to access local trails, Symonds Yat and the rest of the Forest of Dean. The Wye Valley AONB is an outdoor-lovers' dream, popular not just with bikers but climbers, walkers and canoeists, too. Whatever your chosen activity, you'll find plenty of recommendations in the guest book. The historic market town of Monmouth is just a few minutes’ drive and offers two theatres and a bustling high street with many unique and independent shops. There are several good supermarkets (Lidl, Waitrose, M&S) and a leisure centre. In the other direction, picturesque Tintern is well worth a visit for its impressive Abbey, crafts centre and Old Station. Guest access The Lime House is located on the first floor above a double garage and car port, and so there are several steps up to the property. The welcoming owners maintain access to the garage and so you may meet them during your stay. The garage itself is private but we do provide offroad parking. Other things to note Arrival days are Fridays, Saturdays, Mondays and Tuesdays. One well-behaved, friendly dog is allowed by request and is subject to an additional £15 cleaning fee. Dogs must be kept off of soft furnishings. The cottage is located on a farm track on the outskirts of Staunton, just a couple of minutes’ walk to the village.
