Description

Welcome to Ann's Place on the scenic Illinois River. With its rustic charm and modern comforts your family is certain to make memories together. This 1920's log cabin boasts 10 private acres of open meadows and private river front access for swimming, paddling, or fishing. Stargaze around the firepit as the family catches lightning bugs. Enjoy this cabin in the fall as the large canopy of mature trees changes colors. Don't wait, book your memorable stay today! The space The Cabin Stay in a little piece of history that has been along the Illinois River for over a century. The log cabin was built in 1920. Take a walk on the original hardwood floors of the main cabin that has been converted to a spacious living room with two reclining sofas, opening to the fully stocked kitchen and table that seats six and bar seating four. The main bathroom for the property has a tub with shower. From the original cabin take two steps up to the two-story addition built in 1999 that gives this house all the modern comforts while maintaining its rustic charm. The bottom level consists of the main entrance, two king bedrooms, one hosting the second bathroom that has a walk-in shower. The laundry room has a full-size washer and dryer for guests to use as needed. Move up the staircase leading to the other two bedrooms. One room is set up as a bunk house consisting of one full bed and two queen size beds. This is a great room for kids to have a great night staying up late and telling stories from their adventures. The second room upstairs has a queen bed and plenty of room for a pack and play for little ones or an air mattress for additional guests (not provided by the host). The Back Porch The living room opens to the spacious covered back porch with a table seating six and more room for additional folding tables. Enjoy grilling out on the 6-burner gas grill while watching the sunset and enjoying a cold beverage. Walk down the steps to the large firepit with plenty of seating while the family plays horseshoes. Once the sun goes down, turn on the string lights for additional lighting. The Grounds We believe in protecting the grounds, wildlife and watersheds as much as possible and take pride in leaving this land better than we found it. We do not spray for pests or weeds to prevent harsh chemicals entering the ground and water. Guests are encouraged to bring bug spray to apply while enjoying the outdoor areas. The property is in the county by the water so guests can expect to encounter wildlife, reptiles, insects, and native plants which may include poison ivy. We maintain the two large meadows one closer to the back porch that is easier to keep an eye on the kids. The second one is located next to the river which does not have a clear view from the house or back porch but is the perfect spot to setup a camp and enjoy the views of the river. From the back porch follow either meadow all the way down to the private river access which is about a 2–3-minute walk (roughly 300 yards). Guests can wade directly into the river and spend hours swimming and saying hi to the paddlers passing by. Depending on the river conditions the guests can navigate to the gravel bar on the opposite shore for an easy walk upriver and when you’re ready to come back to the landing just hop in and float on down. While on the property guests are privy to recreational activities such as fishing, kayaking, and floating if they follow GRDA rules and regulations. Please consider wearing life preservers while near the water as there is no lifeguard on duty and guests are responsible for their own safety at all times. Please do not jump from the banks into the river for safety as the river can be shallow and debris can be hidden. We highly encourage guardians of children to have proper conversations regarding water safety and keep a close eye on all children during their stay. Guest access Guests will have access to the entire house as well as the grounds and river access. The shop is not available to guests during their stay. Please be mindful to stay on our property and obey neighboring no trespassing signs. Please do not damage the grounds during your visit, collect all trash and dispose of it properly and refrain from using glass bottles while on the grounds or river during your stay. Thank you. Other things to note Ann’s Place is in the perfect location to visit the beautiful town of Tahlequah. Enjoy restaurants such as Emery’s Grill, Southside, Morgans Bakery, Kroner and Bear, The Branch and many others. If you are in town to float the Illinois River, the cabin is located close to all the main operators like War Eagle, River Bend Floats and many more while giving you a quiet retreat at the end of a long day to look forward to. The cabin is less than a mile away from Todd Public Access, which is a perfect spot to put your own floats in the river and enjoy the 30–45-minute float back to the cabin’s private river access landing. This is a perfect float for beginners or little kids. For all the guests looking to hike, this area of Oklahoma has multiple state parks to enjoy. If you enjoy the lake life and would like to visit either Lake Tenkiller or Fort Gibson Lake, you are just a 45-minute drive away.
