Walk in the picturesque village of thirty six almost identical thatched cottages with a wooded valley on the doorstep with St James' Church, Milton Abbey and St Catherine's Chapel. Modern electrics, heating and hot water provide comfort and ease within this traditional period thatch cottage. The space Step inside this warm and inviting cottage and you’ll find sloping floors and low doorways that speak to its long history. A cosy wood-burning stove invites you to curl up with a book and a warm drink in the evenings. Perfect for up to 3 guests, the cottage includes: Bedroom 1: A charming double room with a traditional metal king sized bed, original Victorian fireplace (non-functioning), open wardrobe and blackout blind. Bedroom 2: A compact and cosy single room with Edwardian bed, open wardrobe and blackout blind. Full bathroom: A fully fitted bathroom, perfect for relaxing in on your own or even sharing with another. It includes a double ended freestanding bath and separate large shower. Kitchen: A compact yet fully equipped kitchen that is a joy to use. It includes everything you would expect: full sized hob; oven, fridge; freezer; microwave; dishwasher; kettle; toaster; drip coffee maker. Living room: The living room, with the wood burning stove creates a warm and cosy atmosphere. With a comfy L shaped sofa you can warm up and relax after a day outside watching the flames in the stove or enjoy your favourite shows on the smart TV. The stove is inset into the original inglenook fireplace while there is underfloor heating beneath the hardwood flooring. Out and About Set in the rural heart of Dorset, you’re well placed to explore winding lanes, historic buildings, nature walks, and local villages. Whether you come for restful stillness, a romantic break or a quiet family stay, Evergreen Cottage provides a uniquely English, timeless backdrop. Other things to note Free late checkouts from December to March are available up to 6pm upon request, excluding the school holiday periods. The house has been fully restored using traditional materials and techniques. Using lime plaster and limewash instead of cement and modern paints allows the house to “breathe” and remain healthy. One side effect of this is that the colour of the outside walls varies from season to season - this is nothing to worry about, rather a sign that traditional materials have been used. We have also kept the floors and doorways whenever possible to their original heights to respect and retain the house’s character and historic nature. As such there are low doorways and some slanted floors. The garden, set in the wooded valley, has a steep slope and doesn’t have full safety railings — please use with care, especially for children. The wood-burning stove gets very hot, so this may not be suitable for very young children or toddlers with high energy.
