Gardeners Cottage, is a spacious home for guests to relax, renew, recharge. A highly experienced 5* BNB superhost - Cirencester & Beaufort Polo, Cheltenham Races, gastro pubs galore in the magical Golden Valley surrounding us. Overlooking an AONB Nature Reserve woodland with canal walks, our paradise gardens, comfy beds, freshly pressed linens, easy entertaining, stylish interiors & books, dreamy for a quiet family, friendly gathering. The space Our luxuriously large and detached cottage of 1600 sq feet, is just perfect for two or three couples wishing to escape somewhere exceptionally beautiful. It very generously offers three bedrooms upstairs with a shared bathroom for Bed 2 &3. The cottage extended in 1940s enjoys 2 auras, one part old, one part newer. ***Please note on layout of bedrooms*** A small bedroom 3 lies between bedroom 2 and its bathroom, furnished with a queen size 4 poster bed. There are two seperate staircases, the older cottage has a large superking bed with double aspect views of the garden and meadow fields, with an additional set of more private stairs to the kitchen below and downstairs loo but needs to access the bathroom via bedroom 3. ***** English country style is our approach to comfort throughout, bedroom 3 is a cozy 14 x12 foot room with double aspect views across the meadow to the valley beyond, and the pretty garden below. Furnished with a queen size four poster bed, sweet and charming, with well curated books, an old radio, it was once resided in by Haille Selessie, whilst he was in exile in the West Country. Sit in bed and look at the views with a coffee.. your friends have to knock on the door to pass through to the bathroom.. ( or can use the other old staircase ? ) a perfect space for children. The cottage as a whole provides an atmosphere and spirit of an unspoilt rural existence, so rare these days with its original polished wooden floorboards throughout and Sir William Rothensteins rigid painters aesthetic in need of perfect light to paint his subjects making every view and window count. The adjoining smaller bathroom has an old cast iron bath, is very bright, has plenty of storage, basin and a loo with views over the pretty garden. The larger Artists suite is situated in the more modern 1930s extension commissioned by Sir William Rothenstein and is extremely spacious. A superking bed with freshly pressed linens, duvets and soft pillows, black out linen blinds, has a good sized cupboard to hang clothing and chest of drawers for smaller folded items. In the bedroom there are once again sweeping and unspoilt views of the meadow from a large picture window in the bedroom where Sir William Rothenstein & John Drinkwater painted. There are views from the comfy bed of the landscaped gardens and woodland valley too. The large south west facing bathroom has a large walk in shower, and an old double ended cast iron roll top bath from where views of the garden can also be seen. There is plenty of cupboard storage and a shaver, toothbrush socket charge within the bathroom cupboards. Silence is golden here and we will do everything we can to ensure you have privacy and a real chance to reboot and relax at our very beautiful and simply stylish home. Max Beerbohm rented the gardeners cottage during his hey day and there are numerous books and references worth investigating whilst here, of a life well spent amongst the many artists and literary pioneers of the age. A wood fired Dutchtub can be filled but please do request in advance of your stay. During heatwaves and risks of fires we do not offer this facility for safety. (Please note- Due to the current high spiralling water costs and energy costs each session is an additional £100 to your bill.) We are very experienced hosts that value and appreciate considerate guests, who are looking for a proper rest and an opportunity to unwind reading books, and listening to music from our well stocked libraries. Fresh flowers are the order of the day along with treats upon your arrival. With my local knowledge and enthusiasm for your stay you will leave enlightened and more in love with nature and the Cotswolds than you might imagine. The ground floor is full of charm with each room individually furnished to create harmony within the cottage. There are incredible views from every picture window- north, south, east and west, with the horses coming to the windows to say hello, along with deer and hares on the meadow side. Whatever the weather, the changing landscape and views here are incomparable and our local wildlife fortunately very much a part of your stay. Parking is behind closed gates and there is a well lit path to the front door with security cameras. Our wish is for our guests to be happy. Come and see us and find out. Guest access Guests have full use of a very large pretty and landscaped garden that falls away to open fields and the wooded valley below. There are wonderful walks in every direction as soon as you walk out the garden gates. Wellington boots can be provided for most feet of most sizes...although your own walking boots preferred if going miles to prevent foot sores. Of course we have a multitude of maps for you. Other things to note There are two sets of steep stairs- so babies in arms are welcome, little people too, but our main staircase is without a child staircase at top and bottom. Our old floorboards are wooden and highly polished throughout, so do please bring your slippers or expect to be barefoot. We have dogs whom we do not allow into the cottage out of respect for our guests that have allergies. Please always keep our garden gates shut.
