The Annexe @ Tulip Cottage - Thorpeness Meare

The Annexe @ Tulip Cottage is situated 20 meters from Thorpeness Meare - with the boats and wildlife right on your doorstep and the sea one minute away in the other direction. You can hear the sound of the sea from your bed, or, watch the ducks and swans through the balcony doors - there really is no other location quite like it in Thorpeness. The space With glorious views of Thorpeness Meare, a deep freestanding bath and a very comfy bed, The Annexe, Tulip Cottage really is a beautiful and unique space to stay. You can wake to the sounds of the ducks and swans on the Meare, or the distant sound of the sea (only a 2 minute walk away) - depending on which window you choose to open. Upstairs: There is a double or twin bed configuration (please advise which you would prefer when booking). There is a freestanding bath / sink area / mirror / chest of drawers / hangers. Small seating area & table. Downstairs: Shower room with over head and hand held shower / sink / toilet. The kitchen area comes fully equipped with a small hob / oven / dishwasher / fridge freezer, kettle & Nespresso machine / Iron / mini ironing board and more. There is no room for a washing machine, but there is drying rack provided (for hand washed items / beach gear), plus a laundrette / laundry service in both Leiston & Aldeburgh. Or, if you are staying more than four nights, I can wash a basket of clothes for a minimal price. There is a smart TV, wifi is available, plus lots of books and games. Guest access You have your own entrance through bi-fold french doors. Other things to note In summer - the sea is warm (well, as warm as the North Sea gets) and the boats are on the Meare. In winter - the boats have been put away and the wildlife takes centre stage. The Meare is at its most beautiful on a bright frosty winter morning. Underfloor heating at Tulip Cottage means you can enjoy it whilst staying toasty warm. You can often hear a Bittern booming in Spring, as well as owls, water birds of all types, woodpecker, cuckoo and lots of garden birds (including the resident Robins). You will also see Swifts, Swallows, House Martins and bats in the summer. The RSPB North Warren reserve is nearby and we can point you in the direction of the hides and some wonderful walks. There is very little light pollution, so on clear nights you can see many constellations, including the Milky Way. We are: 30 seconds from the Meare's edge. 2 minutes from the beach. 1 minute from The Meare Shop & Tearoom 1 - 2 minutes to The Thorpeness Emporium & The Kitchen. A short walk to The Golf Club, The Dolphin Inn, The House in the Clouds and Windmill. 2 Miles from Aldeburgh along what is probably one of the most beautiful roads in all of Suffolk. With wetland & marsh on your right, the Sea & Maggi Hambling's Scallop on your left - it is stunning whatever the season. It is a good cycling route too - very easy if the wind is behind you. Aldeburgh has some great restaurants, pubs and a couple of famous fish & chip shops too. Levi the Labrador lives at Tulip Cottage. There are also two cats - one (Woody) may try to say hello - the other (Mousey) will definitely not. You are welcome to have friends over but please no extra guests staying the night. Please keep noise to a minimum after 11pm. There is a space for one car outside the property, but there is lots of on road parking nearby, plus the Beach Car Park (across the road from the property), is free after 6pm.
