Other things to note Stove instructions: Lighting the fireplace: Making a proper fire The moment of "making a fire" has something magical about it - today just as it did thousands of years ago. Heat up properly and avoid emissions In the following instructions, we will show you how to avoid smoke and soot as much as possible by properly lighting the stove and thus laying the foundation for optimal burning. Instructions for lighting the fireplace in 5 steps: • Open the cast iron grate and air slide completely • Place 2 logs of firewood at the bottom of the combustion chamber • Stack kindling at a 90-degree angle • Place the lighter on the tower • Light from top to bottom Very important: Lighting is done from top to bottom. Many studies and countless practical experiences leave no doubt: the cleanest and most effective way to light the fire is from above and not from below. This way, hardly any smoke is produced, the firebricks remain bright and you do not have to worry about a black, sooty stove window. The right air supply During the heating phase, your stove system is still "cold". The stove, the stove pipe and the chimney do not yet have the necessary operating temperature. To ensure a maximum supply of oxygen for the start of combustion, it is advantageous to leave the stove door slightly ajar for the first few minutes. This way, you can ignite a long-flamed fire in no time, which quickly brings your stove system to operating temperature and ensures that your chimney "draws" properly. Do not forget to close the stove door again. The right time to add wood After the two logs have burned down completely to the base embers, you can add one or two more pieces of firewood. To do this, the stove door is first slowly opened a crack wide so that pressure equalization can take place. This prevents flue gases from escaping from the combustion chamber into the living room. Carefully place the firewood in the embers and open the air supply again a little. As soon as the wood is properly burned, it can be reduced again. Only put as much wood as you actually need for your heating needs. This is another way to avoid unnecessary emissions. !! Attention: the door handle of this stove becomes hot Please use a glove!! The wood is in the "shed" behind the house, first door (see photo).
