The Robin’s Nest is a sunny, modern and newly renovated addition nestled into the back of our 1930’s craftsman bungalow. Enter through your own private entrance in our tree canopied backyard to a living space bathed in light from the wide windows and sliding glass doors. The large primary bedroom includes a desk and open workspace, perfect for a graduate student or visiting professor. The same wide floor plan can easily accommodate a pack and play or blow-up twin mattress for families. The second bedroom is bright and cheery with a full-size bed and generous windows. Just down the hall is a full bath with a combined large tub and shower. The cozy living room includes a flat screened TV, cable, and WIFI with plenty of space for relaxing and a high kitchen table that seats four. The couch can be turned down into a single bed at your request. The kitchen is fully equipped with a full-size refrigerator, microwave, tea and coffeemaker, and all that is needed to create a home-cooked meal. The large backyard is shared space and includes a brick patio with a seating and dining area, firepit and BBQ grill as well as a small flower garden that welcomes a variety of birds from the woods nearby. About the area: Historic Hyattsville is a peaceful neighborhood with beautiful parks and wide tree lined streets less than two miles away from UMD and three metro stops to DC. Downtown Riverdale, the Hyattsville Arts District, restaurants, pizzerias, breweries, coffee shops, an award-winning bakery and drool worthy Texas style BBQ are all within walking distance. Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s and Yes Organic grocery stores are also all within a 1.5-mile radius. Getting there and back again: The closest Metro stop is Hyattsville Crossing on the Green Line, less than a mile away with an easy transfer to the red line three stops down the tracks. The MARC Train is also less than a mile away, carrying you straight to Union Station in the heart of DC in 20 minutes. There are also multiple bus lines for additional public transportation needs including the F4 bus stop right on our corner. The UMD shuttle bus picks up one block from our house We live in an Uber/Lyft rich environment. Guest access We will provide you with a keyless door code shortly before your arrival to use during your stay. Other things to note This private apartment is fully yours during your stay but our home is just upstairs so you may hear muffled sounds of our daily life from time to time. Our friendly pup Hopper, an Ausiedoodle, shares our space upstairs but not yours - the apartment is pet free to accommodate guests with allergies. You may seem him in the backyard so feel free to say hello.
