Description
A striking hilltop beach house with pool and panoramic ocean views over Pescadero's lush farmland. An elegant refuge with private casita and chef's kitchen, and the joys of Baja before you. Close to beaches — 8 min to Cerritos Beach over back roads, or to San Pedrito, a white-sand paradise. The best pizza and fried chicken north of Cabo is a short walk away. Todos Santos, a Pueblo Mágico, is 15 min by car. The ideal home base for a Baja vacation that feels like floating in the sky above it. The space The four bedrooms (including the casita) sleep 8 comfortably, in bedrooms off the open-plan main room. The primary bedroom, with a California king bed and its own full bathroom with shower, is beyond the kitchen and opens to the pool. Two guest bedrooms are down a short flight of steps from the living room, on a hall that ends at a large, shared bathroom with a shower with shower stool. Each bedroom has a queen bed, and a sliding glass door that opens to the patio walkway. The casita is at the end of the walkway. It's a studio with a queen bed, a compact but well-equipped kitchen (French press and drip coffee makers, a microwave, kettle, kitchenware) and its own full bathroom with shower. All three showers have grab bars and no curbs. Stairs down to the garage driveway offer the option of casita access without going through the main house. The well-stocked chef's kitchen in the main house includes toaster, blender, dishwasher, pots and pans, and plastic wine glasses for use on the pool deck. The washer and dryer are adjacent to the kitchen. All three bedrooms in the main house have built-in rosewood desks that serve as dedicated workspaces; the casita has a drop-leaf round table. High-speed internet service is provided through Starlink. A 55” Smart TV in the living room with a firestick gets most news and sports channels. We’ve installed a UV-light and carbon filtration system so that all taps produce drinkable water. We keep the Ciel water jug dispenser in the kitchen, providing purified drinking water, in case of a power outage which would temporarily affect the electric water pump. A 20,000-liter cistern under the carport provides water for the whole house: showers, laundry, the pool (which is heated by solar mats) and all faucets. There's a covered carport, with a gate, and flagstone steps leading down to the pool deck, so beachgoers can wash off sandy feet at the outdoor hot-and-cold shower before entering the house. We have in the hallway closet beach chairs, umbrellas, yoga mats, a small ice chest and two boogie boards. Additional equipment can be rented at Cerritos Beach (we like Mario Surf School) or the nearby Pescadero Surf Shop, next to Baja Beans. Guest access You’ll have the use of an entire private home with pool and outdoor hot-and-cold shower, in a quiet residential neighborhood. Other things to note Renting a 4-wheel drive is best, but a sedan will work (you need to buy at least liability insurance with that). We like Enterprise/National at SJD. If you don’t need a car, Todos Santos Private Transportation will pick you up and drop you off at the airport. You can find almost anything you need in local markets. Sometimes they’re out of chocolate chips or shallots or marshmallows. Most establishments accept credit cards except a few restaurants (don’t miss Lucky 23’s pork ribs and their lobster ravioli), and dollars are widely accepted. If you don’t wish to drive to the bank ATMs in Todos Santos, bringing pesos from home can be helpful. We recommend nearby Crudo (check hours) , Noah Sushi in Pescadero, Carnitas Miguel, Hierbabuena, Pizzeria el Portrero (try their Margarita pizza with chorizo), Barracuda Cantina’s famous grilled shrimp tacos, La Palapa next to Salgado’s (clams, ceviche), and Palmar Pescadero. A free bilingual magazine has calendar listings and maps of restaurants and shops in Todos Santos, Cerritos, and Pescadero. Search online for Journal del Pacifico “full issues PDF format,” The Chocolate Clam and Todos Santos Insider. The neighborhood is peaceful and quiet, with birdsong in the morning and the crash of ocean waves in the distance at night. Enjoy it!
