The space We are located on the grounds of Centro Cultural & Posada Los Encuentros, which hosts the most completed tutorial medicinal herb garden in the Lake Atitlan basin. While we are on the outskirts of Panajachel, the town is small and every place here is within a 15-20 minute walk, to include: the downtown tourist shopping area; the 16th Century Franciscan mission church; the “people’s vegetable & flower market;and the underwaterMayan artifacts museum. We are only a 10-minute walk from the town’s principal supermarket. We are a 15-minute “tuc-tuc” (cheap 3-wheel transportation) ride away from the San Buenaventura Nature Reserve and the San Buenaventura Hotel, the latter of which is an affiliated luxury resort where our guestsenjoy discount access to their private swimming pool and sandy beach . We are just off the main road leading to Sta. Catarina and San Antonio Palopo, the only 2 lakeside indigenous communities of tourist interest that can readily be reached by road. Just 100 meters from our location, you can access public transportation that can economically carry you to these two communities, 2.5 and 5 miles respectively, from our location. If you speak some Spanish and have a good guidebook, you can enjoy these place on your own. Otherwise, for a reasonable price, we can provide you with an educated English-speaking guide.If you are a hiker, you can hike to the first of these along a picturesque road and take public transportation to the second of the two. We also offer guides, at a reasonable price, for the best, most secure hiking trail in the Lake Atitlan basin.
