Mamies is a three bedroom house with a large garden located just outside Foxford in County Mayo. It's in a lovely spot with beautiful views, and in a great location for accessing the Wild Atlantic Way. The original farmhouse - which had been in our family for generations - was rebuilt in 2001. 1st listed on Airbnb Sept. 2024. The space The house sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms. A double bedroom with shower ensuite downstairs, a double bedroom and a twin bedroom upstairs. There is a bathroom (with bath/ shower) upstairs and a WC off the hallway downstairs. The living room opens on to the south facing patio. The kitchen has a dining table for 6. There is an office/study off the kitchen. There is ample parking space and a barn for guests' use in the yard. The patio overlooks a lovely garden and offers beautiful views towards Lough Cullin and beyond. Guest access Guests have full use of the house, garden and the smaller of the two barns at rear of the house. Vehicle access is via gates to the front of the house and also at the rear of the yard. There is ample free parking space. Guests do not have access to the larger barn, which houses the boiler. Other things to note Mamies in Corlummin is 2.5 km west of the picturesque town of Foxford in North Mayo. The River Moy - world famous for salmon fishing - runs through the town. On the river bank is the Foxford Woollen Mills established in 1892. The award winning store and visitor centre is recognised as one of the best in Ireland. It includes a café serving delicious food, art galleries and offers guided tours which tells the fascinating story of the working mills from the 19th to the 21st century. Admiral Brown, who played a pivotal role in the formation of the Argentinian Navy, hails from Foxford and is celebrated in the town. Michael Davitt, one of the most important figures in Irish history, was born in nearby Straide in 1846. The Michael Davitt Museum is located in the restored village church. The Mayo towns Ballina and Castlebar are both only 16km away, and the beautiful heritage town of Westport, 46km. Ireland West International Airport at Knock is a 30 min drive. Foxford nestles between the Ox and Nephin mountains. There are several loop walks in the area varying in distance and difficulty. At 804m Nephin is Ireland’s tallest standalone mountain. 1.5km from Mamies, Lough Cullin has three small sandy beaches with parking adjacent to Drummin Wood, great for swimming and gentle kayaking. Further afield the Wild Atlantic Way is easily accessible. There are beautiful coastal beaches at Enniscrone, Belmullet, Mulranny, and Achill where all manner of water sports including surfing can be enjoyed. Achill Island is characterised by rugged mountains and peat bogs and has impressive sea cliffs and clean beaches with views towards Clare Island to the south, and Blacksod Bay and the Mullet Peninsula to the north. To the north, Downpatrick Head is located on the Céide coast where the views are breathtaking. The world’s oldest know field systems can be seen at the Céide Fields Visitor centre. Croagh Patrick, Clare Island, and Connemara are also easily accessible. There’s a good range of cycling options, many of which take you past beautiful scenery. The Greenway- a dedicated 49km cycling route-follows the Wild Atlantic Way from Westport to Achill Sound and is particularly enjoyable. There are 18 hole golf courses at Ballina, Enniscrone, Castlebar, Westport and Claremorris and 9 hole courses at Swinford, Mulranny, Achill Island, and Ballyhaunis. Regular horse racing meetings are held at Ballinrobe (50km).
