Camper/RV in Wassaic
Description
Enjoy our new hot tub while staying in this 1970 Airstream Overlander. This 28-foot, pet-friendly RV blends original charm with modern comforts, including air conditioning + heat, Wi-Fi, TV, and a Nespresso machine. The Airstream is set on a half-acre campground surrounded by 400 acres of state land. Enjoy nearby fishing, hiking, kayaking, or biking along the 26-mile Rail Trail. Retro touches include board games, cassette tapes, an Atari game system, and evenings by the fire pit. The space Relax and recharge in this hilltop forest setting—soak in the hot tub, toast marshmallows by the fire, and end the night stargazing from the hammock. The well-equipped 1970 Airstream Overlander features a dining table and kitchenette with a sink, one-burner cooktop, mini fridge, Ninja Foodi air fryer oven, and cupboards stocked with dishes, cookware, oil, and basic spices. Outdoors, enjoy a BBQ, fire pit cooking station, and pizza oven. Cast iron pans and a Dutch oven can be used indoors or out. Up to four adults can stay comfortably. The convertible full-size memory foam daybed at the back of the camper is topped with comfortable, colorful pillows. The front sofa transforms from a single into a queen-size sleeper, offering flexible lounging and sleeping options. One additional child can be accommodated on a 24” memory foam mattress upon request. A pack ’n play is also available upon request—please note that when in use, the front sofa can only be used as a single due to space constraints. Unwind with nostalgic board games, cassette tapes, and an original Nintendo system, or stream your favorite shows on the Smart TV. The removable dining table can double as a workspace with high-speed Wi-Fi. The compact bathroom includes a toilet, shower, and tub, stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and towels for both shower and hot tub use. The on-demand hot water system works well but with slightly lower pressure than a traditional home. A half-height wardrobe provides hanging space for clothing, and four small drawers underneath can also store belongings. Storage is limited, so we recommend traveling with soft-sided bags for easier stowing. Access + terrain The camper is located on a hill and access can be impacted by weather. AWD/4WD is needed to park directly next to the camper. A lower parking spot is available with a short walk up the hill. Off-grid feel You’re staying in a 1970 Airstream in a wooded setting. While we maintain the space carefully, this is not a traditional home and no one is on-site 24/7. Nature + wildlife You are fully immersed in the forest. Bugs, insects, and occasional critters are part of the experience despite regular pest control. → We recommend bringing layers, using the provided bug spray, and storing all food in sealed containers. Shared property This is one of two campers on the property, with a home below. You’ll have your own dedicated area, but this is not a completely secluded site. → Want more privacy? Ask about booking both campers. Small-space living This is a compact camper with lower ceilings and limited storage. Soft-sided bags are strongly recommended (roller bags don’t fit well). Water + utilities Filtered well water is provided (Brita included). The hot water system works well but has lower pressure than a typical home. Trash + wildlife safety This is a carry-in, carry-out property due to wildlife (including bears). → Trash service ($10) must be arranged in advance → Any trash left behind will incur a fee Pets Up to 2 well-trained pets allowed with approval + $25 pet fee → Must be on flea/tick/heart worm prevention → Must be leashed outdoors due to wildlife → This property is not recommended for guests with severe pet allergies Weather awareness Severe weather may affect access. Please reach out with any concerns before booking. Quick confirmation Please include the word “4WD” in your message to confirm you’ve read these notes.
