Dating back to 1560, The Old Gatehouse has undergone extensive renovations while still preserving its many original features such as exposed stonework, original beams and flagstone floors. It's a truly enchanting place to stay and brings the allure of the past into the present day. On entering the cottage through it's distinctive yellow front door, you are welcomed into an entrance hall with a snug vibe tempting you to explore the house further. There's the cosy ambience of a relaxing sitting room featuring a large inglenook fireplace with a warming wood burning stove, a light-filled dining room that offers a tranquil view of the garden creating a lovely atmosphere for shared meals and gatherings. In between the two, a well-equipped kitchen and adjoining utility and shower room provide convenience and functionality. Upstairs, four beautifully presented bedrooms - two king-size, one twin (which can be made into a king-size bed on request) and a bunk room - are supported by two bathrooms. Full access to the walled garden allows guests to unwind and enjoy the outdoor dining when the days are warm. With its rich heritage and carefully preserved original features, The Old Gatehouse provides a captivating setting for visitors to immerse themselves in the essence of the historic village. From the inviting common areas, the beautifully presented bedrooms and access to the walled garden, this retreat promises a memorable stay for guests seeking a truly atmospheric and unforgettable holiday experience. Equally suited to couples, friends and families, the benefit of numerous facilities within the village - good pubs, tea rooms, a popular farm shop, a fish and chip shop, a handy convenience store and an array of interesting independent shops - means everything is on hand should you decide not to venture too far. When you want to get out and about exploring this wonderful area of North Norfolk, there are so many attractions within easy reach, you will be spoilt for choice. This property is also available to book as a sleeps four option in the lower seasons, with bedrooms three and four locked, listed as The Old Gatehouse (4). Additional Information: Two well behaved dogs welcome (small additional charge). Pillows and duvets are a mixture of feather and synthetic fibre. Travel cot and high chair available on request. Please bring your own linen for the travel cot. Please bring your own original size pods for the Nespresso coffee machine. Access Note: There are several internal and some external steps throughout this property, some of which are quite steep. All have handrails or wall support. Due to age of property, there are also some lower head space areas. Guest access Ground Floor: Enter in to Entrance hall/snug With seating, wood burning stove and hooks for coats. Sitting room With comfortable seating, Smart television and wood burning stove. Kitchen/ diner With Rangemaster cooker with electric hob, microwave, fridge, Butler's sink, dishwasher and Nespresso Pod coffee machine. Sit up/breakfast bar with seating for two. Dining room Steps up, with table and seating for eight guests and doors to the garden. Utility With washer/dryer, freezer and Butler's sink. Shower room With wash basin, WC and heated towel rail. The stairs are steep but straight. First Floor: Master bedroom With 5' king-size bed. En-suite shower Steps down, with large walk-in shower, wash basin, heated towel rail and WC. Dressing area With dressing table and seating Bedroom two With 3' twin beds or king-size bed on request. Two windows, sloped ceiling, access to bathroom. Bedroom three With 5' king-size bed. Bedroom four With 3' bunk beds. Bathroom Steps down, with bath with shower over, wash basin, heated towel rail and WC. Outside: A private walled garden with seating and table for outdoor dining. A charcoal barbecue is available. You can park for a short while outside the property to unload and then there is free parking on the high street overnight. There is also plenty of free parking in Friday Market just around the corner from the house, or on Church Street opposite the house and further down the lane near the church.
