Port Sunlight lies on the Wirral and was founded by William Hesketh Lever in 1888. It consists of more than 900 properties that were built in a variety of architectural styles. William Hesketh Lever was famous, of course, for the soap factory. He wanted to provide his workers with good housing and living conditions for themselves and their families. He also developed other amenities including a school and hospital. The village also had its own fire station and, in the past, William's Cottage housed one of the firemen, as the cottage was close to the fire station, allowing a quick response if needed. Fans of the BBC drama Peaky Blinders might be interested in finding Aunt Polly's house in Park Road and visiting other filming locations such as The Dell. Parking is available at the rear of the cottage. Although there are double yellow lines at the front, there is also ample parking very close to the cottage alongside the Dell. Guest access Guests have access to all of William's Cottage. Other things to note Please note that the staircase is quite steep so may not be suitable for young children or those with mobility issues. In addition, the bed in the second bedroom is a small double.
