Down a quiet country lane is Wairere Rest, a divine retreat, nestled in 4 acres of country gardens, designed by renowned gardener Edna Walling in 1925. The stylish interiors have been lovingly curated by your host with comfort & relaxation in mind. Wander down stone paths lined with wildflowers, enjoy a picnic on the lawns under our 100 year old pin oak or indulge in an outdoor bath overlooking our farm, with just the cows, birds & deer to keep you company...... a truly memorable experience. The space Wairere Rest is a rare find, sheltered within the farm's unique heritage gardens. There are so many beautiful nooks and crannies to explore and rest around the gardens that its best to just scroll through the images and see what takes your fancy. Pick some produce or flowers to enjoy while you rest, or find a shady tree to finish your favourite book. The cottage itself offers everything you could need to keep you comfortable and help you unwind. The modern furnishings blend beautifully with vintage pieces, reflecting a 'high country cattlemen's hut' vibe. The interiors include the hosts favourite things such as Robert Gordon ceramics, Dindi Natural skin products and various curiosities gathered from markets and antique stores around Australia. Enjoy a drink or movie to the crackling of our indoor or outdoor fireplaces, lazy breakfasts in bed listening to birdsong, or perhaps slip on a robe and take an indulgent soak in our outdoor tub overlooking the farm. Guest Note: Wairere Farm consists of the Cottage (Wairere Rest), Wairere Homestead (which is tucked in next to the cottage), 4 acres of garden and lawns and 60 acres of farmland located behind the Homestead. Rest assured we do not overlook any neighbours (you can’t see any other houses from our property) so you will have complete privacy, and we do not allow more than one group at a time at the property so you will have the whole of Wairere Farm to yourselves for the duration of your stay! * All proceeds from your stay are reinvested into the preservation and enhancement of the 4 acre Edna Walling garden 🪏 🪴! Guest access Wairere Rest is located within Wairere Farm, a 60 acre property only a stone throw from Mansfield (10 mins), Lake Eildon (5 mins) and Mt Buller (45 mins). Guests will have full access to the Cottage (Wairere Rest), Outdoor bath and patio area, firepit area and 4 acres of garden. You are also welcome to wander through the paddocks behind the garden and take in the amazing views from the hills above the property. Please note that while you will have the entire property to yourselves, the Wairere main homestead and surrounding decks and pool area are not included in the experience. Other things to note Our neighbours enjoy the peace and quiet of the country and we hope you will too. No loud music or noise and no unauthorised guests are permitted at the property. Wairere is located in the foothills of the Mt Buller region. It is in a rural location with unfenced water eg. dams, farm animals and farm equipment nearby. You should expect insects and other wildlife such as deer, kangaroos, possums, wombats etc. Snakes are always a possibility in country areas during warmer months. There is a washing machine and dryer in the main homestead which can be made available to guests for longer stays on request.
