Description
The cottage is cozy, leisurely and modernly comfortable. We love the panoramic view of the Isefjord, the sunset, and the charming forest fires. The new 94 sqm Skanlux house has a bright living room where the family gathers. Wood-burning stove for cold days. Swan kitchen with dishwasher. There are three bedrooms, a loft and a luxurious bathroom with a bathtub with room for two adults. Outside, a large wooden terrace with inviting sun and shade corners tempts. Use the trampoline or take the SUP board, which is launched directly from the backyard. The space In 2021, we decided to demolish our existing cottage and start over. The choice fell on a specially adapted 94 sqm. Skanlux house from the Trend series. With vertical superwood cladding. A cladding that matches the color and texture of the 20 forest pines that stand on our 2043 sqm. large plot. It's a bright and friendly house, partially surrounded by a large and inviting wooden terrace. A house that blends with nature and overlooks both the sea and the sky. Inside, the house is decorated with water-based underfloor heating in all rooms - and a Morsø wood-burning stove so that the fire, the sea, the sun and the sky can be united. Our favorite – where we all flock – is of course the living room with the large window gable. View of treetops, sea and all the greenery. If it all gets a little too much, you can throw yourself on the sofa bed in the small alcove, which is a mini-appendix to the living room. A 'reading corner' – a TV room, a gamer box. You're 'in' the living room and yet pulled back a little. The kitchen with Swan furniture is also part of the living room, so you are also here with the guests of the house. And experience the view. The three bedrooms can accommodate about six overnight stays. There is not a lot of space in these rooms. They're bedrooms. But of course with the necessary space to retreat. We have deliberately prioritized the bathroom. It should be bright and inviting. A well-room. A velux window directs the sun's rays down into the room to the gray tiles and the spacious bathtub. Here you can sink into the warm water on a cold winter day. And while enjoying the view of blue skies and drifting white clouds. Another velux window is located above the 12 sqm. large loft at the top of the house's eastern gable. Here, the children can play and at the same time feel 'in' what is happening down in the house. This is also where you can retreat with a good book and a cup of coffee and just 'disappear' for an hour or more. Most of the time, we're just in and around the house. Enjoying the small sun or shade corners outside. Let the eye wander over the sea, to the sailing ships heading north or south. The children enjoy the trampoline, the badminton set, the croquet game, the frisbee, the football, the sup-board. We all love the hammocks, which are tied to the trunks of the pine trees. We sometimes go out into the fjord and catch fjord shrimp with nets. Harvesting blue mussels (months with 'r' in). Maybe we're lucky enough to grab a mackerel, trout or garfish with the fishing rods. We light a fire on the meadow in the backyard and - especially in winter - we sit in the wild bath's wood-burning water. If we have guests – especially with smaller children – it is a huge hit to walk the five minutes to the jetty and catch crabs with blue mussels as bait. From the jetty, the water depth quickly becomes 'acceptable' for a swim. Throughout the summer season, a floating bathing platform is laid out at the jetty for a dip and a spring in the clear water. You will quickly discover the island's very special charm. Nature that invites you to walk and relax. Follow the hiking trail in the backyard to the north. It takes you out towards Næsset, where the landscape rises to a cliff height and serves formidable views. To Kattegat to the north - Hundested and Rørvig. To the northeast you can see Jægerspris and Kulhuse. To the west Kongsøre forest, Lammefjorden, Tuse Næs. Odsherred. 10 minutes by car to the campsite. Here you will find the Zoo, which is a bit of a must (especially for the youngest in the group). Small goats, raccoons, parrots, silk monkeys, kangaroos and more. The safari trip in the summer in a wagon pulled by a tractor on the 'savannah' is like an African Blixen adventure. With deer herds, bulls and bison in the main roles. Further into the island - on Margrethe Hill - you can study the island's history in a small micro-museum. For also the ancestors - Vikings and Stone Age people, had a good eye for the Pearl of Isefjord! At the campsite there are good swimming opportunities, mini-golf, ice cream booth, bouncy pillow, and tasty dinner at sunset. At Bings (restaurant), the old merchant's farm has been given a beautiful and culinary facelift. With an experienced host couple, who constantly surprise positively with lots of innovation, atmosphere and a menu far above mediocrity. From the island's marina, you can wave to the ferry to Holbæk, enjoy a dip or eat (more) ice cream. If you don't like freshly caught perch and other good things from 'Provianten'. There are numerous other gems on the island - but we leave the rest up to the (discovery) traveler's temperament - and curiosity. Because Orø is Øro. Freedom, togetherness and recharging. Guest access The entire place is available. Other things to note Orø can be reached via two different ferry routes. Most residents of the Copenhagen area use the cable ferry, Østre Færge. It can carry +32 cars, sails three times an hour, crossing time is 5-6 minutes. We live in Frederiksberg and have from driveway to driveway about five quarters of an hour transport time. The other car ferry sails from Holbæk city. The sailing time is 25 minutes.
