Located just 15 mins (12km) from Lagos, Moinhos Velhos Retreat offers peaceful Wellness Stays in a secluded valley beside the Barragem da Bravura. Enjoy a tranquil retreat setting with private ensuite rooms, breakfast included, with optional vegetarian lunch & dinner, morning yoga and evening meditation classes and workshops. Relax by the saltwater pool or explore the Algarve’s beaches and coastline. The space Nestled in a secluded valley rich with naturally embedded quartz crystal, Moinhos Velhos Retreat offers a peaceful and regenerative setting in the Algarve. The property spans 16 hectares within thousands of hectares of protected natural beauty, with walking trails and the Barragem da Bravura just 5 minutes from the gate. For over 25 years we have hosted dedicated juice detox and yoga retreats, and during selected weeks we open our doors for flexible Wellness Stays. Guests enjoy a calm, restorative environment adorned with gardens, Buddha statues, birdlife and butterflies. The centre was originally an old mill house, and several of the original mill wheels remain. Guests have access to the saltwater pool, yoga temple (for personal practice when not in use), shared guest kitchen and dining room, and peaceful outdoor terraces. Morning yoga (8am), evening meditation and workshop sessions are available during Wellness Stay weeks (€10 per session; prior sign-up required). A daily vegetarian breakfast is included, with vegetarian lunch and dinner available to pre-book for those wishing to enjoy meals onsite. Our onsite therapy clinic offers massage, acupuncture and other treatments, booked directly with therapists and subject to availability. We are ideal for those seeking nature, space and a wellness-oriented atmosphere, while remaining just 15–20 minutes from Lagos and the Algarve’s beaches. Guest access Guests are welcome to use the guest kitchen and dining room in the main house, pool, yoga temple and enjoy the gardens. The staff kitchen and lounge area in the main house aren’t available for guest use. Other things to note There is a restaurant ('Hello Goodbye') within 5 minutes walk of our property next to the reservoir. It's open 11-5pm Thursday to Sunday. There are also two other local cafe's within reasonable distance - in the village of Cotifo 5 mins drive away, or the larger villages of Odiaxere and Bensafrim which are 10 minutes drive away, Lagos with it’s beautiful beaches is 15 minutes drive, Aljezur is 30mins and Sagres 45mins. We are 1 hour from Faro airport. We are a great place in which to base and explore the Algarve.
