Description

Nestled in a birch grove beside our studios, orchard, veg garden, and a gentle brook, our cozy Shepherd’s Hut offers a unique retreat. The interior is a stylish blend crafted from repurposed materials from the various film and TV sets we have worked on. We’re located near stunning surf beaches, scenic coastal walks, and the wild beauty of Exmoor. Alternatively, unwind with a good book from our collection or enjoy some music from our vintage CD library while relaxing in our little bit of devon. The space Inside the Hut Step through the stable door into a warm, eclectic space. The comfortable king-size bed features ample storage underneath and a wardrobe integrated into the headboard. The kitchenette includes a two-ring electric hob (no oven), a sink, and an under-counter fridge with a small freezer. You’ll find all the essentials: plates, bowls, mugs, glasses, kettle, pots, pans, cutlery, and cooking utensils. Adjacent to the kitchen, the shower room boasts a spacious shower, sink, toilet, and a heated towel rail for extra comfort. Ambient wall lights and a remote-controlled electric fan heater provide cozy warmth, especially on chilly mornings. We supply bedding and towels, along with tea, coffee, milk and sugar. When available we may also leave some home made produce like preserves and juices. The hut also features a folding table with two swivel chairs and conveniently placed 13-amp sockets with USB points. Outdoor Amenities Outside, you’ll find a picnic bench, chairs, a fire pit with campfire seating, and a BBQ, complete with tools and charcoal. There’s also firewood stored under the decking for your convenience, along with additional BBQ supplies. Opposite you’ll see two of the birch trees have hanging points where you can tie up the hammock to laze around in on summer days. Guest access The Directors hut is located 20 metres from your own parking space , and accessed on foot down a beech line path with automatic lighting if you arrive in the dark. Other things to note Access the hut via a field gate and a short path from the parking area. Please park at the field gate as indicated and walk to the hut. It’s a quick stroll, but be sure to use your phone's flashlight if you arrive after dark. Local Attractions Inside the Shepherd's Hut, you’ll discover a wealth of information about the local area, including must-visit sites and activities. Beyond the stunning beaches—part of North Devon's World Surf Reserve—RHS Rosemoor and Arlington Court (National Trust) are just a 30-minute drive away. The nearby Tarka Trail offers 30 miles of traffic-free cycling, inspired by Tarka the Otter. If you’re looking for a meal or a drink, the welcoming Chichester Arms is only a 2-minute drive away, with The Bell at Chittlehampton and The Rising Sun at Umberleigh not much further. Important Reminders We encourage you to relax and enjoy your stay, but please refrain from smoking inside the hut. If you smoke outdoors, kindly dispose of cigarette butts in the fire pit. Due to the proximity of horses and livestock on the neighboring farm, we cannot accommodate pets. While the hut is designed for two, families with a baby are welcome—just bring any necessary bedding and equipment. Unfortunately, we cannot accept toddlers due to nearby ponds and steep banks that could pose safety risks. Enjoy your stay, and feel free to reach out with any questions! A late and unpublished review Unfortunately our first visitors missed the 14 day deadline, but this is what they messaged us “Charlie • Booker 13:27 Hiya! Sorry, I've only just seen your message. What a wonderful stay. We go away often and I think this has been our favourite visit yet. We'll be back! Waking up to the birds was amazing, but actually watching them from the comfort of bed was excellent. You couldn't have made the stay any better if you tried. Thank you so much, and happy new year” Come and see for yourself.
