Country house in Juine Valley – 1 hour from Paris

Welcome to Mérévillois, a charming village in South Essonne, the capital of watercress and a historic town with its 16th century market and 18th century estate. Come and enjoy a peaceful place surrounded by greenery to rest, take a break, or for a weekend with family or friends. → A charming country house ideal for weekends/holidays with family or friends The space 1 hour from Paris, located in the heart of the Juine Valley, the Beau Rivage house opens its doors to you. Surrounded by trees and bordered by the Juine, it is a charming country house, nestled close to the famous Mérévillois watercress beds and a stone's throw from the Domaine de Méréville, a magnificent park and its 18th century castle. Walking or jogging enthusiasts can indulge in these hobbies in the undergrowth and fields around the house. Walking paths and one of the famous paths of St Jacques de Compostelle (the GR111) can be taken a few meters from the house. Those who prefer to stay quiet can simply enjoy the garden in the shade of the trees or by the Juine, one of whose streams crosses the grounds. This house is our little "family nest", where we regularly meet with family or friends. A real break in the countryside, to change the scenery and rest while listening to the birds singing and watching the squirrels bustling about in the trees. Several fruit trees are present in the garden: apple, cherry, plum and raspberry and if the season is good, you can taste the fruits! Fishing enthusiasts, the Juine runs along our property and one of its streams crosses it, allowing you to indulge in your passion without leaving the house! (No-Kill Course) THE HOUSE: The house, on one level, consists of a large living room/kitchen, dining room and spacious living room, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. A few meters from the main house, an independent studio, refurbished in 2023, consists of one bedroom and one bathroom. When you enter the house, you are directly in a living room mixing 2 spaces: the entrance and the open kitchen. This room opens directly onto the living room, with large windows overlooking the garden. It's a room that invites you to snuggle up in one of the two sofas facing the garden, or just rest with a good book. A desk area is at your disposal. The fully equipped kitchen (including dishwasher, microwave, Nespresso machine, kettle, toaster, oven, etc.), open to the living room, is equipped with a table that can accommodate 6 people. The living room also features a beautiful Brazilian wooden table, allowing you to vary the ambiance for meals. The bathroom is equipped with a bathtub/shower and a wooden cabinet with 1 sink, as well as a toilet. The master bedroom is equipped with a queen-size double bed and a large wardrobe/closet. As for the guest or children's room, it is equipped with 2 single beds, which can be brought together if necessary. An extra bed slid under one of the beds can serve as an extra single bed. Both bedrooms are equipped with wooden shutters. High-speed WiFi (fiber) is distributed throughout the house. A large terrace with a family table overlooks the garden at the front of the house. A stone barbecue is also available to guests (charcoal not included - to be cleaned after use). At the back, another terrace equipped with a table for 6 people allows you to enjoy the trees bordering the Juine. Going down a few steps, you arrive at the backyard, which serves the independent studio. The studio bedroom is equipped with a queen size double bed and a small wardrobe. A desk area allows you to work quietly with views of the river and squirrels. The bathroom consists of a toilet and a pleasant shower overlooking the greenery. The garage is open to our guests: it's a room where we store books and toys for all ages. You will find badminton rackets, a Molki game, a kit to try archery, a scooter and other toys and children's books. Provided for your stay: * Sheets, duvets, pillows. * Household products * Coffee and tea available. * Hairdryer, toiletries and towels The house can easily accommodate 3 cars within the grounds. Safety - During the stay, children will be exclusively under parental supervision. Be careful with the nearby river, especially the terrace overlooking the watercourse at the barbecue - smoke detector, 1 fire extinguisher. Check-in and check-out times are listed in the listing. Don't miss the Méréville departmental estate, its castle, its magnificent landscaped park labeled "remarkable garden", once one of the most beautiful romantic gardens in Europe. The 16th century market hall, the Saint Père church, the Trajan column, the washhouses, the bridges, the mills, the hamlets on the banks of the Juine, the outlying hamlets, the wayside crosses, all these monuments and this small rural heritage make Méréville one of the most picturesque sites in the region. No one can leave Méréville without having followed the course of the Juine and having walked through these beautiful wetland landscapes where watercress has been grown for more than a century. The watercress beds are indeed a remarkable element of the landscape, labeled "recovery landscape" since 1992 by the Ministry of the Environment. For art and history lovers, there are several must-sees: Etampes, a royal town, 20 km away. Also, the town of Pithiviers is accessible 30 minutes drive. Finally, Orléans or Chartres are 1 hour by car. PRACTICAL INFORMATION: You will find all the shops (grocery store, bakery, tobacco, florist, butcher, restaurants…), in the city center of Méréville, located 5 minutes by car. For complete shopping, Intermarché is the closest store to the house (4-minute drive). It also has a laundromat and a gas station.
