Description

The Winchell is a thoughtfully designed space in the heart of Kingston, with 2 bedrooms, and 1 bath. The home, the oldest on the block with many original details preserved, is located in a quaint & quiet part of Midtown (the Arts district), ¼ to 2 miles away from the local restaurants, cafes, shops, and bars that's made Kingston a prime Hudson Valley destination. It is also a hub to nearby trails, outdoor adventures, and towns such as Rhinebeck, Phoenicia & Woodstock. Licensed STR: 004980 The space This airbnb is the 2nd floor apartment, my partner and I live in the first floor apartment. We keep a quiet, tranquil home and expect the same for our guests. That means this space is not for everyone, or for all kinds of occasions. We ask that you look over the entire listing + house rules and decide for yourself if this is the right fit. The home is located on a residential block in the city of Kingston and you must climb stairs to access the apartment. The main space includes two bedrooms, a newly renovated bathroom (featuring a clawfoot tub/shower, custom niche details and a handmade walnut vanity), and a stocked kitchen. The living room area is drenched in sunlight with original windows and trim details with plenty of seating and a bluetooth speaker--perfect for a game night, good conversation, or lounging around with a book. The kitchen is cozy yet efficient, with butcher block extensions to expand your countertop space, plenty of cooking essentials, multiple ways to make coffee--from espresso to drip, as well as pantry basics like coffee/tea, cooking oil, salt, and oatmeal for breakfast. The fridge in the apartment is a beautiful vintage fridge in amazing condition. The one caveat is that the freezers back then were much smaller! If you need a larger freezer or fridge during your stay, there is one in the garage I will give you access to. There are two bedrooms on the main floor--a queen size and full size bed, adorned with artifacts found both locally and internationally. The space offers a long dining table/work desk overlooking the backyard gardens; open space for yoga and meditation, as well as an entertainment area with a couch and smart projector, equipped with streaming programs like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and AppleTV and more, to use with your login credentials. In the warmer months, AC units can be found in both bedrooms, and the living room; and in the cooler months you'll have a Nest thermostat to adjust the heat. Linens and towels are provided for your stay. We share access to a backyard that I am little-by-little turning into a garden sanctuary. In the spring, summer, and fall, you are welcome to pick vegetables and herbs from the garden, and enjoy an evening around the fire pit. Guest access Please double check that you are booking your reservation for the correct number of people. Note that there is an additional charge of $20 per guest per night. Parking is available on the side of the road immediately in front of the house. Other things to note After hosting in Brooklyn for several years, I moved up to the Hudson Valley to renovate my new home and begin sharing it with others. I took on my first guests June 2020. Their original 3-month stay turned into an 11-month stay! Since they rented outside of Airbnb, they kindly provided their review to share: “As magazine editors and writers, we have spent our careers peering beneath the surface of the beautiful for what truths may or may not lie within. Imagine our delight in discovering that the gorgeous photos of The Winchell that we instantly fell in love with led us to spend not 3 months, as we’d planned, but nearly a year in the serene and warm embrace of this apartment. Between the Hudson Valley light that fills the sweet kitchen and peaceful living room in the morning and infuses the upstairs loft with warm hues as the sun goes down, and Amanda’s impeccable sense of design and color, it was a daily pleasure to move from space to space as we worked, read, drank coffee and cocktails, cooked in cast iron pans on the powerful little stove, and got to know this creative neighborhood and its diverse mix of longtime and newly arrived residents. We can’t say enough about Amanda’s attention to our needs and the pleasure of her company as our downstairs neighbor. She is a consummate host, an ideal one rarely finds in the world of hospitality. If we could put The Winchell on the cover of one of our magazines, we would.” Registration Details 004980
