Enjoy a spacious and comfortable air conditioned bedroom with an en suite bathroom and a small verandah, where you can sip your morning coffee while soaking in the majestic forest views, chirping birds and rippling water. We are located just ten minutes away from Thattekkad, the renowned bird sanctuary home to over 300 species of birds. The space The Forest Edge is a family friendly 4 cottage getaway situated in the midst of nature around 10 minutes from the famous Thattekkad Bird sanctuary. We are about 60 kms from Cochin, and the typical travel time is less than 2 hours. A perfect getaway at anytime. Could be a weekend to relax, refresh and recharge, or even to clear one’s head in the middle of a workweek. Thattekkad is often described as the richest bird habitat in peninsula India, and is a paradise for bird enthusiasts. The sanctuary is a significant stopover for migratory birds, which come from as far as Siberia. While birds are the primary attraction, Thattekkad is also home to several mammals including elephants, leopards , sloth bears and smaller animals like civet cat and porcupines. Some of the notable birds species are the Malabar grey hornbill, Malabar trogon, Sri Lankan frogmouth, great hornbill, Indian pitta, Ceylon bay owl, racket tailed front, black bass, white bellied treepie , fairy bluebird, to name a few.. One can engage in a variety of activities that cater to nature lovers and bird enthusiasts. Bird watching , nature photography, nature walks, boating. One can interact and engage with local communities to learn about their culture and how they coexist with the sanctuary’s wildlife. Just check with us if you need help arranging any of these activities, or feel free to borrow one of our bikes and explore the area responsibly. Or, If you decide to stay put at the cottage, you can keep yourself busy with the numerous activities inside the property. Soak in the pool, play a game of table tennis, try your skill with the fun amateur archery set, play a game of carroms, throw some darts, try your luck with some fishing or borrow a book from our mini library. Guest access Guests will have access to all the common areas including the swimming pool. Please note that there is no life guard available. So please be responsible and no children unsupervised. Other things to note Free WiFi ,Smart TV and Kettle in all cottages. Breakfast included with your stay.
