Quiet house with garden

Our spacious local house is in a quiet area of Pottuvil, just 10 minutes from Arugam Bay. It’s a simple, homely place with everything you need: a large living room, a well-equipped kitchen, two bedrooms (one with A/C, one with fan), and a bathroom with both local and Western toilets plus a shower. A covered terrace and small garden offer space to relax. Perfect for those looking for peace and local charm, just outside the tourist zone. Bicycles are included. The space This house is a good fit for families, friends, or anyone looking for a quiet, local-style home near Arugam Bay. It offers a simple but functional standard, with everything you need for a longer stay. One bedroom has a double bed with air conditioning, the other has two single beds - ideal for two children or one adult. The spacious kitchen is fully equipped and perfect if you prefer to cook for yourself. A local market and small restaurants are just a short walk away. Fans provide cooling throughout the house, and cleaning supplies are available for your use. There’s also a manual washing machine, which you’re welcome to use. WiFi is set and working, perfect if you want to get some remote work done. If needed, we can help arrange bicycles (free of charge) or scooter rentals during your stay. The house belongs to our family and was built by my father as our home. We now live about 1.5 hours north to support our children’s schooling, but this house remains close to our hearts. We’ve only recently started sharing it with guests and are continuously working to make it more comfortable for travelers. Since this is our family home, we kindly ask you to treat it with care and respect. The house is located in a peaceful residential neighborhood. You might meet friendly and curious neighbors - we ask that you approach them with the same respect and openness they’ll show you. If you’re looking for a quiet, spacious, and affordable place with a local touch, this is a lovely option - especially for longer stays. Guest access You’ll have access to the entire property, except for one locked storage room that remains closed. All other spaces - the bedrooms, living area, kitchen, bathroom, and terrace - are fully yours to use during your stay. The front yard offers enough space to park a car safely on the property. The house is secured with a gate that locks with a key, and both the main entrance and the living room door can be locked for added peace of mind. It’s a private and quiet space where you can settle in and feel at home. Other things to note Pottuvil is a quiet, non-touristic town on Sri Lanka’s east coast, just a few minutes from Arugam Bay. It offers an authentic glimpse into local life, with traditional markets, small restaurants, and a calm rhythm far from the tourist crowds. Arugam Bay, just 10 minutes away, is world-famous for its surf - especially from April to October. Outside the surf season, the area is still worth exploring, with peaceful beaches, laid-back cafés, and nature experiences like lagoon tours and safaris in Kumana National Park. It’s a great destination for anyone looking to combine adventure with rest. Our house is simple - and we’re fully aware of that. But we also believe in its charm, especially for budget-conscious travelers or those planning longer stays.
