Our hideaway huts are nestled in the glorious Somerset countryside, aptly named "The land of the Summer people". Somerset radiates a chilled and laidback lifestyle filled with scrumptious cider and good vibes. Our huts are built with all cosy essentials in mind, from a snug bed to restorative shower. Escape the world and enjoy time with a loved one or a solo retreat. The space The Hideaway Shepherd Huts are two enchanting huts nestled in our arboretum and positioned on the side of one of our stunning lakes, joined together by a decked area — the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee while watching the ducks and herons glide across the water. The first hut features a beautiful Queen-sized bed, hanging space, a chest of drawers, and a cosy area to relax and unwind. A radio with Bluetooth allows you to play your own music or enjoy relaxing radio tunes while soaking in your private lakeside retreat. The bedroom is decorated in a whimsical and dreamy style to help you feel relaxed and rift off into a magical slumber. Books and activities are available for guests, and we run a book share — feel free to take a book home, just leave one behind to share the joy! The second hut has a quaint kitchenette equipped with an air fryer, microwave, sink, toaster, fridge/freezer, and everything you need for easy self-catering. Alternatively, explore some of the lovely local cafés and restaurants nearby. Guests staying at the Hideaway also have access to our onsite Moondown Spa, located just a short walk from the huts. The spa is open Tuesday to Friday, with late-night treatments on Wednesday and Friday, offering massages, facials, and other indulgent treatments — the perfect addition to your lakeside escape. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, peaceful retreat, or cosy countryside break, the Hideaway Shepherd Huts combine charm, tranquillity, and access to beautiful grounds, lakes, and woodland for a truly magical stay. The space has a dining table for two and a bathroom with a gorgeous shower and washing facilities. The huts boast all the comforts from home whilst allowing for that switching off escape we all crave. The huts are ideal for couples seeking a peaceful lakeside escape or small families looking for a cosy retreat. Enjoy wildlife spotting from the deck, reading by the lake, or gentle walks around the arboretum and surrounding grounds. Children will love exploring safely under supervision. Guest access The access is via a small walk through the trees and near the lake. This walk is lit with solar lamps and there is a small gate to access the private area for the huts by the lake. There is space for two cars and for support with accessing the huts just get in touch.
