Sky House is set within the semi-arid foothills of North-Eastern Washington State. The experience of the cabin is of that of an observatory: views to the ever-changing sky, light and landscape creates an other-worldly experience that is truly unique, restorative and magical. This is a private family home, designed and built by the owner, to spend quiet time amongst nature and the first time it has been opened up for respectful use. Guest access Guests are free to access the the cabin and the surrounding 40 acres of property Other things to note CABIN FEATURES: - 2 Bedrooms, Primary located on the second floor, with queen bed; Second located off the living room with queen bed and curtain enclosure. All include fresh linens, duvets, extra pillows. Primary closet with shelving and hangers - Living room with loveseat, beanbag, table and chairs - 1 bathroom with flush toilet, sink, and large spa rain shower with door to the outside. - Recessed “James Bond” claw-foot bath tub accessed by raising the downstairs bed with a crank and pully system. - Fully featured kitchen including 6 burner gas range, fridge, and dual-basin stainless steel sink. Incl. pantry with spices, oil, coffee, tea, sugar, flour etc. - Cups, plates, bowls, knives, utensils and everything you need to eat and drink - Coffee making supplies: 1 moka pot, 1 pour over system with vaccum pot, 1 french press - Stacking Washer Dryer, with outdoor clothesline if desired. (clothes dry fast and smell sooo good from the desert air) - Wood Burning Fireplace with wood. This is the primary heat source although the cabin is extremely well insulated and designed to capture passive solar so it is only needed during the cold season – when temps drop below 50 degrees F. - Record Player, speakers, radio with selection of vinyl and blue-tooth connection - Hammock and stand - Outdoor picnic table and benches - Windows features shades, blinds and screens - Outdoor shower - BBQ with propane Including: - Hot cold water (from well, safe to drink) + filtered drinking water supply - Hot water for shower and bath - WiFi – sufficient bandwidth for streaming - Full electrical system – off grid with solar charged batteries, so not unlimited but sufficient for basic uses, charging devices, lighting etc. Guest shall monitor battery charge. -------------- Sky House is a unique, wild place, with many luxurious comforts, but it may not be for everyone. Access includes a 2 mile section of rugged mountain road with variable conditions. A high clearance vehicle is recommended. **Access during the winter months has the risk of snow. Plowing may or not be available as an additional cost. Owners typically ski in during periods of snow. If you are booking Dec-Mar, be prepared for access to be compromised by snow. The cabin is located 30 minutes away from local services, with intermittent cell phone coverage in the region. Come prepared with directions and maps downloaded ahead of time. Host are available to answer questions, but because of the location, may not be able to come to the location to address requests or minor issues. A full guest manual will be available at the location to provide instructions on cabin operation and troubleshooting. The Okanagan is a rich environment, home to many creatures. Prickly cactus, stinging insects and poisonous snakes require awareness and caution when exploring. Located in the “Many Lakes” recreation area of North Central Washington state. The nearest lake, a 10 min drive is good for swimming and fishing, other lakes are within a short drive and offer a variety of recreational activities depending on the lake. The towns of Oroville and Tonasket with full services are a 30 minute drive away.
