Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. A self-contained space comprising of: generous sitting room, balcony and double bedroom with en suite. Perfectly located for walking and exploring the Peak District. Quietly tucked away in the heart of Matlock with stunning views of Riber Castle and surrounding countryside, 5 minutes walk from the town center and amenities. Rooms are on the 1st floor of hosts own home with own entrance accessed by outside staircase. Free on-street parking nearby. The space Hawthorn Hideaway is tucked away off Church Street at the lower end of Starkholmes in Matlock, 2 minutes from Matlock Green. You will find us down a narrow side street off Church Street, turning left as you ascend before you reach St Giles Church and The Duke William pub. The rooms are located on the first floor of the hosts home but are entirely self-contained with their own entrance accessed by an exterior metal staircase. There is a generous living room with a decked balcony overlooking stunning scenery - the balcony gets the morning sunshine all year round and at night we have particularly dark skies for stargazing. A small double bedroom with an en-suite shower room with toilet and basin completes the space. There is free on-street parking close to the property on Church Street which is nearly always available, or there is always parking available at the nearby local pub, The Duke William, for a charge of £5 per 24 hours by standing private arrangement. Guest access The two private rooms and balcony are for the exclusive use of guests. The rooms are self-contained with your own entrance. An internal door within the property is locked on both sides, isolating the rooms from the rest of the property for your comfort and security. You may request the use of our pretty back garden by private arrangement only. Other things to note Number of Guests - The property is ideal for couples. The additional sleeping arrangement is the futon in the living room, which sleeps one very comfortably - please let us know if you require the futon setting up as a bed before arrival if you are sleeping separately or have booked for 3 guests. Please note age restrictions below. Age Restrictions - No children under the age of 12 due to the balcony area and metal staircase leading to the first floor where the rooms are located. Keys - Your keys will be found in the key safe outside the door to the property, you will be sent the code before arrival. Please leave the keys in back in the key safe when you check out. Parking - We no longer offer parking on site at the property, however there is always free parking to be found nearby along all of Church Street or we can organise parking for your whole stay in advance by private arrangement at The Duke William pub next door to the property for £5 per day. Food and Drink - There is not a kitchen or washing-up facilities. However, there is a silent 50-litre mini-fridge, a microwave, and we provide disposable, biodegradable plates and cutlery - so preparation and storage of light snacks and drinks is possible. A kettle and tea/coffee making facilities are also provided. There are great local food options including an excellent fish and chip shop, takeaways, restaurants and pubs nearby. Please dispose of food or any packaging in the bins provided. Towels and linen - Provided. Please contact host directly if you require a change of bedding and/or towels. Please leave used towels in the shower area when you leave. Heating - We will put the central heating on if it is chilly or by request. There is an electric heater in the Living room space which guests can use at any time. If you require any other arrangements please contact the hosts directly. Workspace - There is a computer desk and socket in the living room area providing a dedicated workspace. Rubbish - If you have a full rubbish bag then you can leave it at the green gate for disposal. Please let us know if you require additional bin bags. If you separate out your recycling and leave it on the shelf next to the mini fridge we will wash and recycle it for you after you have checked out. Smoking & Vaping - Smoking and vaping is permitted only in the outside balcony area and on the provision that the supplied ashtray is used. Little Free Library - There is a bookcase with a varied selection of second hand books in the bedroom. You are most welcome to take a book on a take one, leave one basis. Local walks - Here, you are on the doorstep of The Peak District and all that this offers you. However there are also a variety of charming local walks to be had without using your car, from 20 minutes length to full days adventure. We would be delighted to advise you on where you can go in the local area, simply ask us if you would like some pointers. Hector - Our 3-year-old little rescue tabby cat Hector may well come and say hello at some point during your stay, he is very friendly and loves a head stroke but don’t tickle his tummy (even if he offers it) as he can be very feisty if you do!
